Cassius:Moving on. Tell us our theme tune West. I wanna listen to it

Lena:Just tell him. He’ll never shut up otherwise *eyeroll emoji*

Cassius:Love you too sis *kiss emoji*

Weston:FINE. https://alstoneholdings.co.uk/westons-secret-page/

Cassius:You made a whole playlist *heart eyes emoji*

Caiden:OK back to business. Lawyer statements are done, extra security will be in place by 6am at AH offices, AMC, all houses. The uni has been informed that none of us will be there for lectures in the next couple of days. Poss even a week

Weston:Does that mean we get out of doing coursework?

Caiden:I fucking wish. No they’re gonna email us everything

James:What time should I head over?

Caiden:Does never o’clock work for you?

James:Hahaha. You should be a comedian

Caiden:I’ll keep that in mind

Cassius:Could you imagine Cade doing stand-up? *yawn emoji*

Weston:Or Z!

Cassius:*crying laugh emoji*

Zayde:*middle finger emoji*

Winter:There you are Z! Is Fallon there with you?

Zayde glanced at me over the top of his coffee mug, his phone balanced on his thigh as he scrolled through the messages. “Those fuckers,” he muttered, but there was a half-smile tugging at his lips.

“I guess that’s my cue to reply,” I said.

Fallon:I’m here. Hi

My message was followed by a flurry of replies saying hi and welcome, and I found myself smiling, too. Winter messaged to say that James should head over now, and I added a comment to ask him to bring my bags, seeing Zayde’s gaze boring into me as he read the words.

“You decided to stay?”

I nodded. “If there’s enough space. I think…if it is going to be a media circus, then I’d rather be here than trapped in James’ apartment.”

“Yeah, there’s space.” He eyed me from beneath his lashes. “We have a spare guest bedroom. The other room upstairs got turned into a dressing room, but James can crash in our games room. Or you can sleep in my room, and James can have the guest room. I spent the first twelve years of my life sleeping on a lumpy mattress on a broken bed; the games room isn’t a problem for me to sleep in. It doesn’t matter to me. I can sleep anywhere. “

Both our phones sounded again, and I found a message from Caiden in the group chat, summoning us all to the kitchen table to go through our plan of action for the next couple of days.

“C’mon, let’s go inside.”Clambering to his feet, he offered me his hand, and I took it, letting him pull me upright. He released his grip when I was standing, picking up his coffee mug, and I immediately missed the warmth of his palm against mine.

When we reached the door, he stopped. “Think about what you want to do about Joseph, okay?”

“I think…I’d like to talk to him first. Alone. I’d like some answers from him. And then maybe we can talk about it again after that?”

“Alright, but I’m not letting you meet him alone. But I’ll give you space.”

“If you have to.”
