That was all that I needed to let loose, to let the final orgasm rip through my body. I came harder than I ever had in my life. Connor came with me, his muscles tensing one final time, a groan sounding from the pit of his stomach, his cock pulsing hard inside of me. Our orgasms were timed perfectly, and when they finished cascading, all I could do was fall forward into his arms.

He held me as I breathed hard, his solid warmth bringing me back into reality.

This man’s hold was growing on me by the day.

Chapter 24

Connor

“Ah, shit!”

I blinked hard, not sure I’d heard the swear word as loudly as I had.

“Shit-shit-shit.”

It took me a second to realize where I was, what had happened, who I was with. As the information began to pull up out of the murky depths of my subconscious, I rolled over.

It was still raining, the clouds outside somehow darker. The automatic lights in my apartment had gone on, the space bathed in low, warm light.

“Whatever it is,” I said. “I can almost assure you that it’s not as big of a deal as you’re making it out to be.”

I opened my eyes to be greeted by what had to be the single most perfect thing a man could hope to see upon waking up from a nap. Claire, completely naked from head to toe, wearing nothing but a frustrated as hell expression on her face as she stood with one hand on her hip and the other holding her phone. Her clothes were on the ground all around her.

Her body was flawless. Her skin was fair and freckled, her breasts heavy but round, her hips curvy bows. On top of it all, there was something about the look on her face, that pissed off scowl that only highlighted the absolutely heavenly beauty she possessed.

“I seriously can’t believe I did this again.” Claire shook her head, her eyes still on her phone.

Something hit me in that moment, something I wasn’t at all prepared for, a sentiment that I hadn’t felt in a long time.

I was falling for her.

We hadn’t known each other for long but there was something about Claire that I couldn’t shake, something that made me feel, as insane as it might’ve sounded, that we already knew one another, that there was some sort of connection between us.

Or maybe I was losing my mind, getting caught up in the sort of spell that only a woman as brilliant and gorgeous as her could cast.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, sitting up and doing my best to focus on her eyes instead of, well, all the rest of her.

She ran her hand through her red hair. “I fell asleep, that’s what’s wrong!”

“So?”

She glowered at me, as if I’d said something so stupid that she couldn’t believe it.

“Well, I don’t know how your schedule looks when you’re a Mob boss, but normal people like me don’t get the luxury of coming and going as we please. I told my boss that I was meeting with a client. That was at two. And now?” She held up her phone, showing me that the time was a bit after four.

“So tell her the meeting ran long. What’s the big deal?”

“The big deal is that I have texts asking me where the hell I am. Totally irresponsible of me to just drop off the face of the earth like that.”

“You have to admit,” I said with a small sliver of a grin. “It was worth it.”

She snorted, shaking her head. All the same, she allowed herself a whisper of a smile.

“It was fine.”

“Fine? Come on, love, you’re breaking my heart.”

“Alright. Maybe it was better than fine.”
