Vaughn let him in, his expression almost amused. To be fair, none of us were enjoying the experience… yet.

It was too serious, and we all wanted to be back with Starling and the others. Freddie was dressed like a hotel employee. He dragged a laundry cart inside, followed by Voodoo, who dressed like hotel security.

“We have a six-minute window,” he said. “It’s closing rapidly. Alphabet has eyes on the guards.”

We split the tasks. I packed his suitcases, taking everything in the room, including his laptop, digital tablet, and more.

“What if there’s something in the safe?” Vaughn asked as he dumped the man, not so gently, into the laundry cart after applying a judicious amount of duct tape.

“Leave it,” Kellan said. “We’re at five minutes. You two go. Everyone else in the other room.”

We left the guard duct taped and secured inside the closet of the other room. Then we were wiping it down before we left, splitting up. Transport was here, so that meant going downstairs.

With Sharpe’s suitcases stored in a trunk we’d brought with us, I left them with Vaughn to get downstairs. Alphabet would scan them before we took them anywhere in case they had GPS tags.

Downstairs, I strolled out of the hotel and headed toward the back like I was out for a walk. It was dark outside. I hadn’t even realized the time until I’d gone into a room and seen a window.

The hotels and casinos here were not interested in the outside. The air was dry and hot. There were also too many people. Kellan came out a different set of doors, catching up with me before I even reached the driveway that led into the garage in the back.

When we got there, Freddie was already wheeling the laundry cart out with Voodoo. A lean woman with eyes so pale brown they seemed practically golden waited. Dressed in a dark blue jumpsuit and sporting a hat, she was disguised as a driver for the linens company.

“Only two carts,” Freddie said as he approached her. She wasn’t alone. The other guy was tall, blond, and even if he wore the same outfit, everything about him screamed cop.

Kellan must have come to the same assessment because he raised a hand to Freddie. Voodoo shifted forward to take point, and the woman laughed softly.

“I told you that you can’t sell this yet,” she said over her shoulder, and the guy with her simply shrugged.

“Don’t care. Rick’s with Fletcher while he handles surveillance, and you aren’t meeting these assholes alone.”

“You’re adorable,” she said, before facing us. “Transport. Special delivery.”

“I wasn’t expecting you directly,” Kellan said casually. A muscle ticked in his jaw.

It was her turn to shrug. “I read the request. It seemed to be a reasonable one. Are you sure you want delivery and not just disposal?”

“Yes,” he told her. “We have plans, and they require the package to be intact.”

“Very well. It will be no less than three days, no more than five.” She held out a card. “In seventy-two hours, call that number and leave the address where you want to accept delivery.” She seemed to study Kellan for a moment, maybe longer than the guy with her seemed to like.

“Done.” Kellan took the card with a firm nod. “Thank you for your assistance.”

“Of course, I love road trips.” Then she flicked a look at me, and the guy with her actually growled. Freddie was gawking after he and Voodoo loaded up the two laundry carts. “Nice eyes.”

Then without another word, she climbed into the van. The guy with her didn’t get inside until she had the engine running. Kellan checked his watch as they pulled out and then looked at Freddie before he glanced at Voodoo.

“Your partner?”

“Already out.”

The next hour was spent erasing our presence before we climbed into the car with Vaughn. I settled into the back and closed my eyes. It was a long drive, and Freddie was already wired.

“Tell me we’re getting food,” he said as Vaughn pulled out into traffic. Doc’s friends would be right behind us.

“We’re getting food after we’re out of the city.” Which meant at least a couple of hours ‘cause we’d want to be well clear. “Grab a nap,” Vaughn suggested. “You haven’t been sleeping.”

“Don’t like being this far away from her.”

Could hardly argue with that thought when I hated it too. Pulling my own phone out, I went to her contact and sent her a kiss.
