‘Then you will.’

He left mid-morning after telling Harlow that Koro would pilot Void X and fly her to The Nebula Crown. Once there, she’d be seated with the other Riders.

As evening drew closer, she got ready, fussing over her outfit. She eventually decided on a wrap-effect flower-printed velvet skirt that was artfully gathered with asymmetrical draping. She finished the look with a timeless white crop top with instant icon vibes. Finally, she threw on strappy heels, pulled out a small bag and walked out.

Koro met her outside Kage’s door, still silent, looming behind her like a mobile mountain range as he escorted her into her man’s badass flyer.

Once inside, she sat back as the Iccythrian navigated the sky lanes. Harlow gazed entranced at Eden II fly by. Bathed in a soft and diffused light, the metro city gave off a sense of mystery and intrigue.

She sighed as she glanced up at the lunar metropolis. The sky lanes in intertwined in a unique rhythm, traffic flitting and weaving in an aerial dance that filled her with awe. She was mesmerised by the vistas of towering skyscrapers and historic Paladian landmarks illuminated by neon and storefront lamps.

The mix of people populating the city from all over the System - from Rhesian tourists, to Falasian street vendors - created a vibrant atmosphere and set her heart racing with anticipation and excitement for what the night would bring.

Their approach to The Nebula Crown was unlike when she and Kage had last visited. Instead of the discreet side entrance she’d used before, Koro pulled to the front of the Club.

The flyer whispered to a stop before a red carpet, where a door bot greeted the pair at the entrance. It led them to the entry, where it checked their names against a list of guests.

The bot inclined its head and cleared them to enter a spacious lift followed closely by the hulking, ever-silent Koro. The door shut, and the ride smoothly shifted into the depths of Eden II.

Eventually, the door slid open, and they stepped into The Nebula Crown’s red and gold luxury surrounds.

The Club’s welcome droid rolled up to them.

‘Miss Meridien. Welcome back to The Nebula Crown. Mr Sable asked me to meet you and take you to The Sable Group’s private dais.’

‘Thank you,’ was all Harlow could say before following the droid led her and Koro to the boarding point.

There were even more floating gold cloud like private booths than before. A seething crowd was packed around the giant sandbox ring far below. The ‘War of the Titans’ was certainly one very popular event.

She looked around at the electric atmosphere while waiting for their dais to arrive. She turned to her Iccythrian bodyguard as a large-sized dais floated to stop before her. ‘Coming?’

He shook his head and stepped back, indicating that she alone should proceed.

‘I’ll see you later then,’ she said, rather sad that he was not joining in. She smiled at him and stepped into the golden cage as a shield shimmered into place behind her.

‘Hon!’

Harlow smiled at the sight of Selene reaching out a hand to her.

‘Didn’t expect to see you here!’ Harlow said happily.

She moved towards the lush velvet couch that ran the circular edge of the floating platform, then paused, her brow rising at the sight of Kainan seated beside Selene. Across from the couple was Riv. Next to him was Zane, his arm tightly clutched by a stunning blonde-haired woman.

Also present, Xion was similarly being climbed by a dark-haired Falasian beauty.

Finally, at the end of the couch sat two people she hadn’t met yet.

‘Hi, everyone,’ she said quietly. She greeted the Riders she knew with a smile and gave a nervous laugh when they rose to enfold her in warm, brotherly hugs.

‘Welcome to Kage’s support crew,’ Kainan said. ‘Got to have our brothers’ back when he’s in the fight of his life.’

‘Eat, drink,’ Selene encouraged. Harlow turned to see a table packed with beers, hors d’oeuvres, bottles of rare wine, glasses and plates. ‘Before this horde of hungry riders gets it all.’

Harlow reached for a plate while Riv poured her a glass of wine. She thanked him, and he nodded, his white irised eyes keeping to their icy coolness.

He’d be lethal to cross, she thought.

Laden with goodies, she moved to the couch, where Selene jumped up and introduced Harlow to the people she hadn’t met yet.
