At that moment, my phone vibrates. I look at the screen, noticing that I have two incoming calls. One from my mother, and one from Grayson.

I immediately think the worst; some kind of accident, or perhaps, some other terrible reason why my family might be on the news.

"Sarah, hold on. I have to take my mother's call." I say.

At that moment, Parker walks into the room. He takes the phone from me and cuts the call short without even acknowledging me..

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I snap at him, looking at him with incredulity.

His face reflects total indifference. "Don't answer your family's calls for now."

For a moment, I just stare at him. It is apparent that he had just taken a shower, as his hair is darker and wet, combed back, and he is wearing a bathrobe wrapped around his waist, obviously still naked.

I open my mouth to speak, but I stop myself. I remember too vividly the movements of his body, as well as the way his lips had closed around my nipples as he picked up the pace and made me come.

No!

I have to force those thoughts out of my head. Our moment of passion is nothing more than a one-night stand, period. It is time to forget about it, but it is all I can think about then.

"Give me back my phone, Parker Hamilton," I say, my voice unforgiving as I hold out my hand.

The screen lights up with another call from my mother. Parker sighs and looks down at it. "I'll give it to you, but don't answer it. Watch the news first."

"Why is everyone telling me to watch the news today?" I ask as he picks up the remote.

"Because of this," he says in a neutral tone, although inside, I start screaming as soon as the screen comes on.

My face is all over the news. Or rather, my face and Parker's. A couple of photos from yesterday are plastered throughout the media, outlining the outing we'd had the night before.

And they aren't just pictures of our shopping, or the errands we ran. No, there are also revealing photos of him and me at the restaurant, immersed in a passionate kiss.

"Shit," I whisper.

I suddenly understand why he didn't let me answer the phone. It is probably for the best, as I’m already sure my mother and Grayson will have too many questions for me that I won't know how to answer.

"Hold on," Parker says to me then, handing me his cell phone. "It gets better."

Buzzing with fear I glance at the screen to find a tabloid story claiming, not only that Parker and I are in a relationship, but that I’m...

"What do you mean I'm pregnant?!" I shriek in horror, reading what the media is insinuating.

"It seems that the coat you were wearing yesterday played a trick on you," he says to me calmly, while I’m looking at the tabloid pictures that claim the bulge of my belly meant I’m probably a few months pregnant, and it has nothing to do with the oversized garment I’m wearing.

"Shit. No, it can't be," I groan, covering my face with my hands.

The pictures of us kissing at the restaurant do nothing but confirm the news that indeed, Parker and I are together. What should have been just one night of passion has suddenly become the gossip of the season.

"How am I going to explain this to my family?" I whisper, feeling my legs shake with fear.

"You may not have to," Parker says, sitting down next to me.

He looks at me with those green eyes of his that make me melt. "Maybe it might be better to let everyone believe this. At least for a while."

"Have you gone mad?" I ask, standing up and feeling my cheeks redden with anger.

Parker remains calmly seated on the bed. He takes my hand and pulls me back down, probably knowing full well that I want to run away.

"I've given this a lot of thought, Penny, and at the end of the day, I think this could have advantages for both of us."
