“Hmm… There is a notable difference, but it still sparked the memory. It was almost like she’d marked you for me.”

“What?” I started to pull away, but he held on.

“Like she approves of you. I’ve felt something different with you. When I saw the picture of you outside of the club when I researched it, your smile sold me on whatever you were selling. The way you stormed over to Marcus was like a rush of fire. I watched you move in the club, you wear it well. Very much in your element when you’re there. At the table yesterday with my family, you fit right in. Then last night while I held you, you fit perfectly into my arms.”

“Beni, I–”

He stopped the words from being spoken when he rushed to my mouth, hand in hair, caressing my scalp as he drew me out of myself. Pleasure erupted loudly inside my core moving in both ways, up and down. Initially, I’d wanted to fight him. I’d deemed us to be on separate sides of the fence. Enemies of sorts. Then breakfast happened, allowing me to see another side of him. He was amazing with his sister and niece. He listened to his brother when he spoke as if he couldn’t miss a single word. I recognized that same attentiveness. It mirrored my father’s style.

I remembered my dream. My father had warned me about giving in easily and settling. Beni had a side to him that I couldn’t ignore. While my body appreciated his tongue skills, the way he savored the taste of us, and how he didn’t try to manhandle me. Though his hand was in my hair, it was sure but gentle. His mouth captured but didn’t bruise. His other hand inched the sheet away and he guided me between his legs where I kneeled. Our mouths never parted. Close, only our mouths explored one another. His hands stayed at my hip and hair. Wrong… this was wrong.

I pulled away and he growled at me in warning, bring back to his mouth. Thirsty… he sipped from my lips like I was his salvation in the desert. Hungry… I needed his affection.

No…

I tried to pull away again and he pulled my lip into his mouth, catching it with his teeth. I hissed as the pain tingled below.

“Running from me will make me chase you. You’re not ready for that. Be… still…”

I heard the threat. Knew I should have been afraid. The door was right behind me and easy to get to. His eyes dared me to try him. The odds in my favor.

“I can smell you, Firefly.” He rested his head on my stomach inhaling deeply. “Spicy. Like cinnamon tastes. If you sniff it, it’s overwhelming. But the taste is magic in a fucking cup. You’ll taste that way. I know it. When I finally get my mouth here…” He nipped my mound and then kissed it through my satin panties. “I’m going to get so fucking lost in your sticky sweetness.”

I gasped at his crude words. They turned me on, but he had no right to say them. We weren’t a thing. I had no plans to sleep with him. He was the man that owned over half of my business and didn’t want to give it back. He was putting my world in disarray and I didn’t see how he was going to untangle himself anymore. He already told me he didn’t plan to go anywhere.

“Firefly, what kind of man lets a woman like you go? I’ll tell you. One that burns out your flame, instead of basking in your light. You’re the type of soul that needs space to flourish and when you can’t reach something, a subtle boost pushes you into a world of greatness. You shine all on your own. That brightness that everybody aspires to be.” He kissed my stomach and then my chest.

I couldn’t breathe. He was toxic. Something I needed away from. His sweet words, affirmations, and toe curling touches were too much. I felt the heat in his gaze as he looked up at me. Without clothes, his eyes stayed on mine. Caught in his spell, everything screamed inside as if they knew the danger that came along with his finger on my chin inching me closer to his.

“This is a bad idea, Beni.” I whispered, unable to back away.

“I know.” It didn’t stall his movements though.

“We shouldn’t…” I breathed heavier as my anticipation grew.

“No, we shouldn’t. We are, though. And it’s going to be even better than before. This time, you’re going to want it as much as I do. This time… You’re not going to pull away, right, Firefly?”

Our mouths came together before I could answer verbally. My arms wrapped around his neck and something inside broke free. He was right about one thing. I did want him badly. Our lips glided against one another, tasting what the moment offered. Desire mounted between us until my body demanded more. Panting as we became breathless, he let his hands travel over my curves. Stomach, hips, butt, thighs, breasts, and even the curve of my throat.

“Uncle Beni!” The door flew open and Amina rushed inside.

I pulled the sheet up around me and kept facing away from her.

FUCK!

“Yes, Mina?” he wrapped his arms around me trying to console me while I visually freaked out.

“I…” She paused and I couldn’t see what she was doing but the longer that she lingered the guilter I’d felt.

“You…?” He waited.

“I wanted to know if you were gone yet. Mommy was taking a nap when I got here.”

“I am. You’ll meet me downstairs?” He asked.

“Yes! Hi, Ms. Simone. I’ll see you downstairs, too.” She ran from the room and closed the door behind her.

The click of the door sprung me into action. I dressed and then put on my shoes. “Can you please take me home now?”
