Our eyes lock as she continues to treat my dick like it’s a puppy—gently caressing me.

I reach for her hand, holding it. “This isn’t a quid pro quo.”

“What?”

“When I do something for you, it doesn’t mean you need to do something for me.” She does that thing where she opens and closes her mouth when she’s unsure of what to say. “Tay, I need to be clear. It’s just you and me.”

“That’s what I want too.”

Our smiles stretch from coast to coast. I pull her so close I can barely breathe, because Talynn takes my breath away—she has since the day I met her.

ChapterFourteen

TALYNN

Where’s the alarm coming from? I pat around the nightstand to feel for my phone but it’s not there. Prying my tired lids apart, I look around Tackett’s room and remember the last twelve hours. I glance over my shoulder and Tackett is gone. He had practice at 7:30. The phone is playing “Get the Party Started,” by Pink. I jump out of the bed, still naked, and follow the noise.

My phone is on the couch where I was eating orange sherbet before the excitement began. Tackett was a virgin. Until me. What does that mean? I’m having a hard time believing it. I shut off the alarm and tap my messages. But what do I say? He won’t see it until after lunch anyway. So, I wait.

I take a hot shower to calm my aching muscles while chuckling to myself because now, I need a massage therapist. My mind runs through the events of last night. How can a man so handsome, funny, and caring be a virgin at twenty?

My alarm goes off again because I’m neurotic about being late. Stepping out of the shower, I turn it off for the next to last time. It will go off ten minutes before I need to leave, too. My reflection in the mirror reveals a glowing face. It’s going to be a great day.

Dressed and ready for work, I walk into the kitchen to grab a water bottle. Sitting out on the counter where my butt was last night is a protein bar, a banana, and one of Tackett’s special waters that is infused with watermelon, electrolytes, and other vitamins with a sticky note attached.

Have a great first day. I’m jealous your hands will be on someone other than me.

Can’t wait to see you tonight—

Tackett

I want him to know I found his note, so I tap out a text.

Me:Thanks for breakfast and the note. I’m nervous. Hope we can pick up where we left off.

My office is twenty minutes in the opposite direction from my apartment and even farther from the Sharks stadium. I wanted to surprise Tackett for lunch but there’s no way to do the roundtrip in time…unless I just gave him a quick peck on the cheek and returned to the office.

So far, all I’ve done is fill out forms, watch orientation videos, and be utterly bored.

On my lunch hour, another therapist invites me to lunch. She probably wants to know how to get my freshly sexed look. I snicker thinking about it.

After lunch, I work on my first client. The woman is in her fifties and is built like a brick shithouse. She’s fit with fully developed muscles. She was in a car wreck, so I’m working on her neck. After forty-five minutes, she asks my supervisor if I can be her permanent massage therapist.

“Thank you, Mrs. Cooke. I’ll see you next week.”

“No, thankyou. You’re such a beauty. Has anyone ever told you that?”

I blush because no matter what I say, it’ll make me look bad.

Yes, I’ve been told I’m pretty—then I’m a conceited asshole.

No, I’ve never been told I’m beautiful—then they pity me.

My boss, Dan, guides her out and I follow.

A text comes through from Tackett.
