“I’m joking, I’ll just use Lex’s dog’s hair again.”
“If you touch my dog, I will roast your nuts,” Lex threatens.
“That’s a good threat!” Deus decides.
“Do you think it’s weird that my girlfriend only lets me wear a thong in front of her friends?” Brandon asks.
“Wait, I have that option? August, I require you to only wear thongs,” I say.
“No.”
“Dammit.” I’ll just have to find a way to make him agree to this idea.
All I know is that when we finally arrive at the aquarium I’mthrilled. I open the door and we all spill out as I nearly slam face-first into Ellison who is shutting the door ofmycar. Quickly, I turn around to look at the Ellison who’d been exiting the SUV before snapping my attention back to him.
“You… you droveseparately?” I growl. “You made me sit with one of yourillusions?”
“You didn’t realize that?” Deus asks.
I look at him in disbelief. “You didn’t tell me?”
“You think I’m stupid?” Ellison says with a grin. “I had so much room. And your car is really nice too.”
I gawk at him as I wave in the vicinity his illusion had been. “We weretalkingto you.”
“I’m aware,” he says. “I answered, didn’t I?”
“You look so smug,” I realize.
“It’s a really hot look,” Deus says, which makes Ellison’s smug look dissipate quickly before he jabs a finger at Deus as his face goes red.
“NO.”
“Fine!” Deus grumbles as he wanders off.
“So you can hear everything your illusion is hearing even when we’re car lengths apart?” August asks.
“I can.”
“That’s… impressive,” August says.
“Thanks.”
“So you could just sit in your office and read a book and make your illusions do work for you?” I ask.
Ellison hesitates. “I would never skip work.”
“What a loser.”
Mom is calling everyone together, which is highly concerning. “Today… we’re going to free the sharks.”
“We arenotfreeing the sharks,” I say.
“We will freeallaquatic life,” Mom amends.
“Not what I meant. If any of you bust a fish out, I will disown you,” I announce.
“Landon, if you fly all of us over the fence, only you will have to pay,” Dad says.
