“Ellison, I know it’s harder for you with your position, so please don’t feel like you need to for any reason.”
“Hmm…” Ellison cocks his head as he stares at August. “This needs to end.”
August smiles at him. “Thank you.”
“Yeah.”
The group of us head toward the exit where the rest of the SAVCGEM are already waiting for us.
Brandon comes jogging up and holds something out in front of me.
“Here, I freed a shark for you,” Brandon says as he offers me the large stuffed plush shark.
“Did you steal it?” I ask.
“Maybe.”
I hesitate but then decide what the hell… my family are still villains, after all. “Thank you, Brandon. I really like him.”
“You’re welcome. Can I sleep on your couch tonight?”
“Fine. But in exchange, I need your help.”
“Deal!”
“And you have to keep your underwear on.”
“Oh… maybe I’ll stay at Baker’s.”
I stare at him, and he sighs. “FINE. I’ll keep my underwear on.”
As Brandon heads back to the others, the five of us quickly jump into my car with absolutely no intention of cramming into the stupid SUV where I’ll have to listen to horrific tales from my parents and brother.
I have to say, it’s a pretty damn good day.
CHAPTERTWENTY-TWO
LANDON
“So… a plush of me, eh?” August asks as he shuts the bedroom door.
With a wave of my hand the door reopens, and I slide August through it before shutting it.
“Landon!” he cries from the other side.
“You are to wipe that from your memory, you hear me?”
“I think it’s cute!” he says, like he’s not yet done destroying my image. How he can even think that this is a joking matter, I’ll never know. What I do know is that he’s going to ruin me. He’s out to destroy me.
What a delectable monster.
“Are you really going to lock me out?” August says from behind me.
“Hell!” I cry as I jump forward and spin around to face August who’s just appeared behind me, clearly having come back into the room while time was frozen. “You tricked me!”
He grins at me. “Maybe a little bit. Should have locked the door.”
“I can make sure it’s locked this time,” I tease as I hold my hand out toward it, but just as I go to move him, he appears on the other side of the room. “I like it better when you appear naked.”
