Nick pulls out his iPad and does some clicking and scrolling. “Second time here, sir.”

“Get rid of everything we have on him. He was never a member and never will be.” He turns his gaze back on us. “Thank you, Kaspian.”

“Of course,” Kas replies with a grin. “We should go soon, though.”

The blond’s head bobs, dropping low as his chin hits his chest.

“Yeah. Go.”

“That was helpful,” I say as we get the blond into the truck.

“Yeah. He won’t want any backlash or investigations. Nobody will know he was ever there.”

“Good thing you have such a good relationship withMaster Blake.”

Kaspian grins at me from the passenger side of my truck as he holds the man up. “I love when you get jealous.”

“I’m not jealous. To be jealous would be to have some sort of insecurity or fear. What I feel is something else.”

I get in and start up the truck.

Kaspian chuckles. “Okay.”

“Where are we going?” I ask, wanting to get off the subject.

“I’ll direct you.”

* * *

We’re surrounded by trees, miles and miles away from any road. Kaspian said he’s been here before, and I don’t have to ask why, because I can assume it was for the same reason we’re here now. I didn’t know this when I chose Vermont to move to, but the land is seventy-six percent forested, giving us plenty of places that most people will never venture to.

Kaspian has the man laid out on the ground and is straddling his chest, making sure he’s conscious enough to know what’s about to happen.

Watching him is thrilling, but I quickly realize to see him in his true form is to watch him at his most impulsive. He would’ve cut that man’s tongue from his mouth in the room, but I know to be smart. We can’t have a crime scene. We can’t have blood and screams of terror in such a public place.

I rest my back against the wide trunk of a tree and observe the way he works. He’s still angry, but not as angry as he was in the moment, and I vow to make sure he’s capable of freeing himself fully next time.

Particularly upset with the man’s tongue, he uses my small blade to slice it down the middle. His eyes take on a villainous gleam as the blood pours out and the man writhes beneath him, groaning and screaming.

Kaspian presses his hand to his nose and mouth, and since we don’t have to worry about anyone hearing us out here, I know it’s not to keep him quiet. He’s going to suffocate him with his own blood.

When the man’s body goes still and the noises stop, Kaspian removes his hand and stares down at his newest victim. His shoulders rise and fall with deep breaths before he stands up. He still has that look in his eyes. It’s one I’ve never seen before. He’s not the carefully constructed Kaspian. He’s authentically himself—an impulsive, twisted, obsessive sociopath.

Seeing him like this brings me a sense of joy I’ve never felt. Like I’ve found something I’ve been missing. Not that I think he’s my soulmate; I don’t believe in that shit. But just knowing he exists and having the luxury of watching him like this makes me feel…relief.

He stalks toward me, hunger in his eyes and blood on his hands. I remain relaxed against the tree and grin at him when he stops in front of me, his body pressing against mine.

“Look what you made me do.”

I smirk. “I made you do that? Or did your little game with Diego start this?”

He runs his finger over my cheek. “You didn’t seem bothered by what was going on between us until he started touching the place you cut me.”

“I was planning.”

“Hmm. So, youdon’twant to see me with anyone else?”

“You can do what you want, but you can’t be mad about any reaction I may have.”
