His eyes went to the tiger waiting for him.

He charged, knocking both of them into another vehicle. Glass shattered. He ripped his claws into the tiger's shoulder, bearing down on him with all his weight.

He felt something pop, and the tiger growled in pain and anger. Just then, the panther slammed into him from behind, sending him across the pavement.

He slid, feeling gravel dig into his fur, leaving a mark. He quickly shook it off, pulling himself back up. He looked back and found the tiger limping next to the panther.

He watched the tiger shift back into his human form, and he held his shoulder, blood running down his side. He had snapped the bone out of position.

The panther looked at him with pure rage. "I'm taking her back to where the drop-off point is. Get rid of him. We don't need him screwing this up for us."

He watched the man turn, and the panther looked at him with narrowed eyes. He frowned. Wherever this guy was planning to go, he couldn't let it happen. If he got away with Opal, he had no idea if he was going to see her again. He knew deep in his bones it wouldn't be a safe situation.

The panther charged him, and he planted his legs, holding his ground. He slammed into the panther and dug his claws in, refusing to be pushed backward.

He watched as the man rounded the vehicle and opened the driver’s door. He winced in pain, but he forced himself to move. He needed to deal with the panther, and then he could get back to the other man and save Opal.

He clawed the panther, shoving him hard into the ground. He sunk his claws into his shoulder and growled. The panther growled back, but he was pinned. He brought his head up and slammed it down into the panther’s. A shock wave ran over his skull, but he shook it off.

The man went still. He hadn't killed him, but he did knock him out.

He turned, looking at the human. Where in the hell was everyone from the other side of the building? Still there, obviously. Could they not tell something was going on back here?

The other man had started the van and was trying to put the vehicle into drive. He could hear Opal screaming now, cursing.

"You're going to regret this! Let me go! Let me out of this vehicle!" Her voice held a bite behind it, but he could still hear her quiver.

He charged forward, seeing the van was starting to move. He quickly slashed the back tire. The wheel popped, and the van jerked. It slammed into another car, and an alarm blared.

He stalked around the van toward the driver's side. He found the man sitting there, fuming with rage. Benton glared back at him from in front of the vehicle, refusing to move. He growled low in warning. He was going to get answers to what was going on.

The man grabbed a knife and opened the door. He narrowed his eyes at him.

"You've fucked with the wrong guys here, dude," he said, charging him.

He quickly jumped back, avoiding the knife. He shifted back into his human form. "Who do you work for?"

"It's none of your concern." The man advanced once more, but he moved back out of the way again.

"Tell me who wants her, and maybe I'll let you live." It was a threat he wasn't entirely sure he was going to keep. These guys tried to take Opal. He wasn't sure he wanted to leave them alive.

He moved backward, avoiding the knife as the man slashed toward him. He missed, and Benton took the open moment. He swung his leg up, kicking the man in the stomach, sending him backward.

The man dropped the knife, and Benton quickly kicked it out of the way. He moved in, grabbed the man, and punched him twice on the ground. He stood over him. "Tell me who you work for." He was done asking. His calmness was wearing off.

He took a moment, grabbed his head, and slammed it into the ground. The man went still. He wasn't sure if he'd killed him or not. He really didn't care.

He swallowed and stepped back, surveying the area. The panther still lay a few feet away on the ground. The van sat tilted, and he suddenly heard Opal.

"Benton!"

He ran to the van and threw the door open. He found Opal wiggling on the floor with her hands still bound together. She'd managed to get the bag off her head.

She looked at him with wide eyes, and she relaxed slightly. "Benton … how did you know…"

"I may have followed you," he said, slashing the restraints around her hands. "I had a feeling I needed to come, and it's a good thing I did."

She blinked, and he saw tears in her eyes. He quickly wiped at them, giving her a gentle smile. "I took care of everything. It's going to be okay. I promise."
