I cameagain, on his pleasure cock, like a star that twinkled brighter and brighter andbrighteruntil I burst in a shower of starbeams and sweet glittering light. My convulsions tipped him over the edge and even our orgasms seemed to bleed into each other and everything was bliss.

He fell asleep inside me.

I fell asleep too.

I dreamed of a cabin in the woods, of the two of us walking under the stars over crunching fallen leaves, holding hands with a child with furry legs and hooves and when I looked down, I had them too. I dreamed of a donen family, and I dreamed of home and belonging, and when I woke, it was abruptly, to the sound of screams.

FIFTEEN

cypra

I was trapped under Holston’s girth and weight, and I shoved at his shoulders, whispering at him to wake up.

Then I realized I was being an idiot. “Wake up!” I said, louder.

He was stirring, however, and he pushed up on his hands over me, eyes wide. “What?”

The scream again.

He tensed.

Oh, fuck, he was inside me still.

He seemed to notice this at the same time as I did. He reached between us and tugged his cock free.

I bit down on my lower lip.

We looked at each other.

Then I shoved him again. “Get off me.”

He did.

I got up, finding my clothes and my blaster. I struggled into my clothes while Holston grabbed his bolts and bow. He notched a bolt into the bow and went to the door. He waited as I fastened the eazclasp of my pants and then he opened the door.

It was dark and empty in the corridor.

I brandished my blaster and nodded at him.

He eased his way out of the door and into the corridor, covering first one way with the bow and then the other. He shook his head at me, to indicate no one was there.

I followed him into the corridor. “Let’s split up,” I said in a low voice.

“Can’t do that, shei,” he muttered. “Sorry, it’s not a commentary on your ability to take care of yourself. It’s just that I have an instinctive, obsessive desire to keep you safe.”

“That’s flattering, but—”

“It’s a breeding thing, in case you’re carrying my offspring,” he said. “Got to perpetuate the species.”

“I am not pregnant,” I hissed. “And we already said that if by some chance I was, I would terminate, so you’re being ridiculous.”

“Not splitting up,” he said.

I stalked down the corridor. Why were wetalkingabout this? Someone was screaming.

He followed me.

Well, the screaming had stopped now, but that didn’t mean that the danger had passed. I needed to be focusing on that, not on whatever things Holston was saying. I couldn’t deny I liked that he wanted to protect me. Of course, I liked it less when he had to get all explain-y about it and say it was just because of some mythical baby I was supposedly carrying.
