I shut my eyes, basking in that touch. Iwasin love with this woman, and everything about her was bliss.

“Won’tyoube miserable, though?”

“No way,” I said. “The best things in life require sacrifice. I want to put you first.”

Her lips parted soundlessly and she gave me thislook…

I grinned at her. “Yes?”

“Yes,” she said. “Yes, yes,yes.”

“Um, so do you guys have room on your ship for an extra recruit?” I said quietly to the holoprojection of Sienne that was coming out of my bracelet.

Holston was still asleep.

After our declarations of love for each other, there had been even more sex, which was kind of crazy, considering how much we’d already done it. We were insatiable, though. I couldn’t get enough of him.

“What are you talking about?” said Sienne.

“Not so loud!” I shushed in a whisper. I got up and took the bracelet out onto the small outdoor balcony, where it was as humid as ever. It was so gross and disgusting on this planet, seriously. What I wouldn’t give for a mission to an ice planet next. I shut the door. “There. Okay. He can’t hear us.”

“Stars, you did it!” said Sienne. “You had sex with that donen wild-man guide!”

“I…” I let out a breath. “He… it’s more than sex.”

Sienne grinned. “Really?”

“Really,” I said. “He said he wants to come with me. He wants to join the resistance so that we can be together.”

“Like me and Caspe!” She clapped her hands. “So perfect. Yes, of course, we’ll come get you both. I’m so happy for you.”

I giggled. Okay, it wasn’t in front of Holston, but it was because of him.

“You arebeaming,” said Sienne. “I have never seen you look so happy in all the time I’ve known you.”

“You, um, you don’t think it’s fast?”

“It’s always fast,” said Sienne dismissively. “People say this crap all the time, like, what’s that human saying? ‘Fools rush in’?” She said it in English. “You’ve heard that?”

“Yeah,” I said. “It means that only crazy people make lifetime commitments really quickly.”

“But loveisfast,” she said. “You connect with someone, and there’s thisjolt, you know? And then all you want is to be around that person, like you can’t bear to be separated from them?”

“Yes,” I said. “Yes, exactly that.”

“And I feel like the only thing that kept Caspe and me apart for very long was both of us fighting to accept it, you know?”

“I do,” I said. “I mean, I’m kind of fighting it now.”

“Don’t,” she said. “Don’t, just let yourself be happy. Come on, Cypra, you deserve this. You’ve been waiting long enough.”

I grinned. “I really have, though.”

“I amsohappy for you.”
