As the saying goes,‘The truth always comes out. It’s one of the fundamental rules, and when it does, it can either set you free, or it can end everything you fought for.’

In my case, it’s the latter. The truth will be the destruction of everything we have built and the decimation of her heart.

And mine.

ChapterTwenty-Three

LOGAN

“Igot mypromdress on the weekend.” That annoying as fuck voice behind me continues to speak—the emphasis on the wordprom, making her innuendo abundantly clear. Exhaling an agitated breath, I close my locker and turn to face Hadley, who has been rambling on about prom for the last ten minutes.

She is really starting to grate on my nerves. Just the sound of her whiny voice makes me want to put my head in my locker and slam the door against it several times just to drown out the incessant noise.

I haven’t asked her to prom, and I have no intention of asking her.

When we started this crazy affair, it was thrilling. What began with Hadley blackmailing me soon turned into not only my total compliance, but I actually sought her out most of the time.

The excitement of doing something we shouldn’t made the sex hot as hell, but as soon as Ava found out, that thrill died in the ass pretty fast.

I should have cut her off when I told Ava I would. But the moment I attempted to end things, she pulled me into the janitor’s closet and gave me a reminder as to why I’ve kept things going for as long as I have.

I almost feel bad for Bob the janitor. If he ever found out how many people fuck in his closet, the poor old bastard would probably have a coronary. It’s a cesspool of God knows what and should probably be condemned.

As Hadley continues to ramble, my eyes zero in on that very talented mouth of hers. The image of those plump lips wrapped around my cock and sucking on me like a Hoover invades my thoughts, making my dick jump in excitement.

For fuck’s sake.

I need to stop this shit with her, but my dick has other ideas. The fucker insists on standing to attention whenever she is around and draining the last of my remaining brain cells right along with it. This inability to think rationally is the very reason I’m now stuck dealing with this stage five standing in front of me.

Tuning out Hadley, my gaze drifts down the hall, spotting Mason and Ava walking hand in hand. She smiles up at him as he speaks, and my stomach churns, watching how they interact with each other.

She laughs at something he says, and he chuckles, lifting her hand up to his mouth and kissing the back of it. The way she looks at him, the adoration swimming in her eyes, is a look I haven’t seen before. She never looked at me like that and seeing them together every day is like a knife to the gut. I really don’t understand what the fuck those two have in common.

He’s Mason Reynolds.

The school fucking nerd.

He dresses like a fifty-year-old man and has spent most of high school as a ghost, whereas she is a guy’s ultimate wet dream. They don’t make sense, but yet they seem happy together.

I definitely underestimated the fucker. The attempts I have made to wear him down have had no effect whatsoever, and the confrontation we had in the boys’ bathroom took me by surprise, to say the least.

The asshole is a kung fu master or some shit.

I don’t know where he learned to fight like that, but it took three days for my balls to recover from that shit show.

“Logan, are you listening to me?” Hadley snaps my attention back to her.

No, I wasn’t listening, and I really don’t give a shit.

“What were you saying?” I sigh, already bored with her bullshit.

She rolls her eyes, placing her hands on her hips. “I was asking if you have organized your tux yet?”

“No, I haven’t, and I don’t give a shit about prom. I probably won’t go.”

“What?” she cries, eyes bugging out of her head. “What do you mean, you are not going? You are the captain of the football team and a definite shoo-in for prom king. You have to go.”

“I don’t have to go, and I really couldn’t give a fuck about prom king.”
