There's no time for that now. Not with my mom waiting for me, and I kinda had wanted to shower before dinner because of all of the hiking.
“I should get going,” I say regretfully.
“No problem,” he says easily. “Off to dinner?”
“Yes.”
If he’s hoping for an invite, he’s not going to get one. That would be way too awkward with my mom.
“You know what might be nice,” he says casually.
“What’s that?” I ask when he pauses, trying for some suspense I think.
“Dessert.”
He winks at me, and my heart speeds up. Does he mean what I think he means?
Not dessert as in food but the other kind?
“Dessert might be very nice,” I murmur.
“But it might not be.” He snorts.
I eye him. He’s cocky, and I love that, but…
“In my experience… it’s not always… tasty.”
He laughs heartily at that. “Seems like you need a different dessert.”
“I’d be willing to split it with a different partner.”
“That so?” His grin is huge now. “I can make sure it’s everything you want and more.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
“No?” I doubt he can sound more amused.
"Yeah. You ever heard the phrase 'don't catch your chickens before they're hatched?'"
He chuckles. “I know how to tame pussies.”
I burst out laughing. “Sure you do.”
“I also like to lick the spoon, so if you find yourself hungry after dinner… I’ve been dying for some dessert.”
My heart is beating even faster now, and I completely and totally unintentionally lick my lips.
Is he trying to hint that he wishes we did something before now? I’m not misreading things, right?
“Maybe I’ll be in the mood for dessert,” I say, trying to sound noncommittal, but I’m so damn breathless that he has to know I want him too.
And maybe it's not a bad thing that he knows.
CHAPTER15
Ido shower, and the dinner we have is amazing, but don’t ask me what I ate or what Mom and I talked about because all I can think about is how I might lose the chance with Rob if I don’t go out of my way tonight.
He talked about dessert, and I’m starving.
