“I…” Her shoulder lifted in a shrug. “Don’t know how I changed back.”

“Pricilla is a cat.” I ground out and walked over to my closet. “Get out of my bed.”

“Frank?” she pled and crawled to the foot of the bed. “Please. Believe me.”

I kept shaking my head and disappeared into my walk-in closet. There’s no way in hell that’s Pricilla.

Picking out a suit for the day, I got dressed and poked my head out of the door to see where she was. My bed linens were rumpled, and she was gone. I don’t know where she went, but I couldn’t worry about that now.

I needed to get to work and figure out who the hell was in my house and where my cat went!

Pricilla

I grabbed the tee shirt on the floor and darted for the spare bedroom. Pulling the comforter and pillows from the bed, I hid in a dark corner and waited for him to leave. My nose poured down snot as the sobs took over and I cried myself to sleep.

Sometime later, I woke in the quiet house and I ventured out to see things through my human eyes. Beauty filled me as I walked through my home. I loved it here. I loved Frank. I’d never met anyone as kind, strong, and talented as him.

His freak out this morning crushed me. After all the time we’ve spent together, how could he not know it was me?

Maybe I should write him a letter? Explain what happened.

With a sigh, I gathered a pencil and some paper. I glanced over, and the coffee he made before he left for work looked so good. I got myself a cup, then curled up in his chair in the sunroom and wrote my letter.

Dearest Frank,

I told you the truth about who I am. I amyourPricilla. On my birthday, I was alone in my favorite place - underneath the waterfall. My rivals came to me and told me they wanted to celebrate my birthday. They gifted me with a collar like theirs and shortly after; I felt weird and my body shifted.

I was out for the transport to the Cloud City Animal Sanctuary and stayed there until you found me.

If you want to talk to me, please leave out a bowl of cream and I’ll know. But if there’s no cream, I’ll understand.

Sincerely,Pricilla

That should work, I thought, and if he wanted, then I could explain my plight and we could decide if I was to be just his house-cat, or if we could get to know each other, or if he would send me back to the sanctuary.

Looking out the window, I saw two male lions, a tiger, and a panther roaming outside like tomcats when they know there’s a female in heat.

Holy shit. They can smell me.

Looking at the time I still had four hours before he came home, I went and got my collar from the shower, then set it on the table by the papers. The one thing I missed more than anything I could do now.

Sketch designs.

I closed my eyes and felt the pencil gliding on the paper and when I opened my eyes; I saw the form of a wedding dress. Details set every talented designer apart, so I embellished the dress and smiled as I signed my name to the bottom.

Before putting my collar back on, I hid the drawing under the chair Vincent always sat in and then lifted the beautiful jeweled collar that held the curse. My heart felt heavy as I wrapped it around my neck and clasped the lock.

When I didn’t shift immediately, I was filled with hope that the curse had been broken and I went to the mirror to look and that’s when I felt my bones breaking into full lioness form. A loud howl of anguish echoed through the house and I padded back to the sunroom up on the top of the bookshelves to sleep until Frank came home.

Frank

My ride to work didn’t bring me the peace it usually did. I kept thinking about the woman in my bed.

Her naked form made having morning wood worse!

Harshly yelling at someone isn’t my style, but waking up naked beside a woman wasn’t either.

How could she be Pricilla? My Pricilla. My beautiful cat.
