“Don’t pout,” Akoni said as he unbuckled me once I was in human form again. “Everyone has to wear the harness. The currents and darkness make it very easy to get lost.”

“I’m pouting.”

Auryn swung the boat around and set it chugging back to shore. He gave me a devilish smile. “We have a plane to catch. A plane we haveallto ourselves.”

Hekon letus take the private plane back to America. The topside pilot dragons were eager for one last mission, even if it was playing chauffeur.

But they made it very clear as we boarded that all limbs and appendages needed to remain within the airplane and our undergarments at all times.

“Keon,” the pilot dragon with the bright blue eyes told Keon.

Auryn choked on a laugh and Akoni asked, “What did you do, stone-drake?”

“He knows,” the pilot said before he headed into the cockpit.

“Just doing my job!” Keon called after the pilot.

“That’s not all you were doing.”

I snorted and tried not to laugh.

“I was masquerading as an art dealer, and there were some attractive people, and some champagne and a plane…” Keon said innocently.

“And you got in some practice pleasing humans?” I asked, trying not to howl with laughter.

The pilots closed the cockpit door.Hard.

“They should have done that the first time,” Keon said before he dropped himself into his seat with a panty-dropping smirk.

“Forbidden fruit is always the most tasty. SoIam going to sit over there.” I selected a seat on the other side of the plane.

“You’ll be back,” Keon informed me.

Auryn sat down next to his cousin, glimmering with wickedness.

It was going to be a long flight…

We landedin North Carolina on a gorgeous early summer day, when the sky was piercing blue and the clouds puffy, and everything was so damngreen, and the sky was blissfully heavy.

For our three pilots, Hekon had arranged an SUV. For us…

“A minivan,” Keon said. “Blazing grocery getter.”

The pilots snickered at us and made jokes aboutthat’s a family ridebefore heading off to their own motel and whatever trouble they could find.

“Should have pissed them off.” Keon glared at their receding vehicle.

“They were flying. You really want to make them stop the plane and toss us out?” I asked.

“It’s a practical vehicle.” Auryn yanked open the sliding door.

“Thisis the best Hekon could book for us?” Keon sighed at Akoni playing with the door. He looked after the flight crew rolling off in something a little less baby-hauler.

“What is this?” Akoni asked, wrangling the door on its hinges.

“A minivan,” Keon said. “Mode of transport for large families.”

“We are a large family. Why does this distress you?” Akoni stuck his head into the van.
