That was the only thing that I knew I could do.

But, as the week progressed, the messages got weirder and weirder. I remembered eating lunch, minding my own business, and then, I saw the text.

I notice you’re still hovering around the office. I’ll make sure you get fired and pay the price bitch. Mark my words.

God, why couldn’t this person just leave me alone? I blocked their number twice now, and this was the third time. I did it again. Not even five minutes later, another message flashed in front of me.

I know you’re going to keep blocking and blocking, but that won’t fix the fact that you slept with your boss. Count your days because when your time is up, I’m coming for you. Just you wait. Can’t hide behind your billionaire boyfriend then, now, can you?

What the fuck? I scoffed and mused about what to do. I could change my phone number, but it seems a little bit too easy. Who knows what they’re going to do? Maybe they know I work here, and it’s some weird coworker acting out of line.

That was stupid though. I didn’t know anyone who had it out for me like this. Most of the time, my coworkers didn’t say jack shit to me. They were all too busy doing their jobs.

The anxiety I felt when I saw this message rocked me to my core. I didn’t know what to say to them.

I finally got the courage to respond this time, though.

Knock it off. I don’t know who you are, and I’m not interested. Leave me alone.

Pressed send, hoping that this would be the swan song for this weird creeper. But then, not even ten minutes later, another message appeared.

Be wary. In the next week, changes could happen. If you’re not careful, you’ll get hurt. Not even your boyfriend can save you now….

What the shit! It was clear this person had to be messing with me. I didn’t know what to say or what even to do.

I was scared. I should probably tell someone since I am getting actively harassed at the office. If it was someone here…I just wanted to know why? Did they dislike me out of jealousy I saved the texts and screenshotted them.

If I went to HR, things could get awkward. The last thing I wanted was for the whole office to know that Aaron and I were sleeping together.

I decided to go to the man himself. But, as I approached the office where Aaron and I worked, I stopped myself.

I couldn’t tell him about that just yet. It would only make things worse for both of us. So, I decided to forgo it for at least right now. Maybe if they continued, it would be wise.

Sure enough, it did. Two days later, I had a couple of notes on the car. They didn’t say much other than “Slut” and other words. A couple also said “Stay away from him” in bold font.

I thanked whatever deity there was out there that I parked in the special parking garage. So, I didn’t have to worry about coworkers seeing this mess.

With frustration, I headed inside. When I got to the office, I saw Aaron there. He looked up at me with a curious glance.

“Is something wrong, McKenzie?” he inquired.

I bit my lip. How did he know?

I shuffled about and then smiled. “It’s all good. It’s nothing to worry about. Just a weird situation, but I’ll be okay.”

I was such a shitty liar. Maybe that was a benefit or maybe a huge drawback. I recognized my faults.

Aaron marched over to me and looked me in the eyes. “You’re lying.”

Crap, was it really that obvious? I bit my lip and looked around. I still didn’t know what to do or even what to say. I wanted to do everything but involve Aaron in this. He didn’t need to get involved.

Regarding my problems, it would have been better if he stayed away. Not like I hated him or anything, but because if he got involved, it could reflect poorly on both of us.

I shoved myself away and shook my head.

“I’m telling you, Aaron, it’s nothing wrong and—”

His hand reached out and caressed my cheek. The dark eyes that he had were serious. It was an expression I hadn’t ever seen before. Those eyes shook me to the core.
