Then, his booming voice echoed. “So, you’re the one that my guys took. I wanted your little boyfriend to come and say hi. He’s been…not in the picture for a while.”
His breath reeked of alcohol. I wanted nothing more than to turn away and vomit. But I looked at him.
“What do you mean?”
He laughed, the bellowing sound the only thing in this quiet, dank place. “You haven’t figured it out yet? We’re the Rangers. You know, your boyfriend’s old rival gang. I’m surprised he likes them this young, though.”
A hand curled up and touched my chin. I tried to turn away, and the guy laughed.
“Come on now, don’t be shy. I’m not going to bite you. Hard, that is.”
The guys in the back laughed, and I sat there, fear ghosting through my body. I didn’t know what to say to him. The only thing that I felt was one thing.
Fear. And pain. I was scared shitless. I wanted to fight for my life, to just…fight all of this. He then spoke.
“Listen here, you’re our property, and right now, we don’t take kindly to our property talking back. The guys and I still haven’t decided what we want to do with you yet. We could just sell you off to the guys on the black market, or we could, of course, have you come with us. We can breed you and keep you as a slave for our fun,” he said.
The tone of his voice, followed by the sinister sounds, had me so on edge. I didn’t know what to say. I struggled to form any words, but I stared in fear instead.
He grabbed my chin once again, glaring into my eyes.
“What’s the matter? Too scared? Or do you realize your place? That you’re nothing more than a stupid fucking whore who should know better than to get involved in the affairs of others.”
The guys in the background kept laughing. I didn’t think it was toward me, but it might as well be.
“Fuck…you,” I told him.
His eyes widened at my words, and then, a reverberating slap made contact with my face.
“Shut your whore mouth! You’re never going to be saved. Your little boyfriend is gone. He gave up this life. We had many times together, and I know that the son of a bitch wants to kill me, but he’ll never get a chance. I’ll kill him if he steps foot in here. He doesn’t know how much we’re packing, and we’ll make sure that you pay, and so does he,” he said.
The voice echoed, and the other guys in the area laughed at the words that were uttered. But, on the other hand, I was disgusted by the notion in front of me.
I couldn’t believe that he would do this! I didn’t have anything to do with the drama involving Aaron. My green eyes darted around, hoping to find something, anything. I fumbled my body, but I only noticed that my wallet was gone.
They stole everything from me. Including the test. I panicked.
Then, he laughed. “Oh, and we found the little test that you had in your pants. We can give it back or would you rather I break the news to Aaron.”
I tensed up. I didn’t know what to do about this. Did I tell him? Do I just let these bastards reveal it?
“Give it back,” I spat out, struggling to form words.
The guy laughed, that bellowing sound echoing through the room. “Oh, that’s cute there, McKenzie. You’re fighting so much. I like seeing how feisty you are. Very cute, by the way.”
Every time the guy called me cute, I wanted to puke. But I wouldn’t puke here. I needed to do this. I needed to focus on the job.
Get to the goal, and don’t fight anything more.
“You won’t get away with this. You’re never going to and—”
He laughed, cutting me off. He walked over to the small faucet nearby.
“You know, I understand that, and I’m sure that you’d like me to let you go, but I can’t do that. In fact, you’re going to die here. I thought about keeping you as my little whore, but I don’t want to. I want to…take care of you. In retaliation for what that son of a bitch Aaron did to me.”
He walked over to the small area behind me.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed his hand on something. Was that a tap? He pressed it and turned it on. Soon, the water flowed out, spilling through the area. I watched with widened eyes as the water began to flood the room.
