My life now felt like a different dream, far, far away.

“Right. We’re going to take them down!” I cried out.

The guys all cheered, and we got on our bikes. I turned to Rollin, who nodded.

“I told them. They wanted to come for one last hurrah.”

“Well, I hope they remember it isn’t going to be a repeat. I’m protecting my girlfriend. That’s it,” I said.

“I know. And here are the directions. I did some intel while we waited. Sure enough, the Rangers still have something against you,” he said.

Of course, they did. They refused to give up.

“Let it all burn. Let them all fucking burn! They know damn well better than to interfere with my life like that,” I roared.

“I know. It’ll be okay,” he said.

I knew this, and I couldn’t help but feel angry with the words that came out of my mouth. This desire and need to protect, this growing need that only drove me further and further insane was like a nagging wound that festered with growth.

However, as we got on the bikes, that need only worsened. It was a virus. I needed to step in and protect the woman that I loved. As I drove, there was only one thing, and one thing on my mind, a thought that refused to leave.

I had to save her.

I drove into the distance, knowing that it would never occur again if I didn’t do it now. McKenzie didn’t deserve this. She was the first person I opened up to about this world, about my past. She didn’t run off either, nor did she view me as some kind of monster.

Instead, she listened, and she accepted me for who I was. I couldn’t help but find that…that was precisely what I needed to hear.

I continued to follow the guys, refusing to stop until we got there. Finally, when I got to the building, I stopped and looked things over.

It was the same, old, same old. But the compound looked more worn than before. It wasn’t the same place that I was in before. I stared at the entrance, and then, I spoke.

“Are we ready…gentlemen….”

They all grunted.

“Good, we go in there, and we take what’s ours. Then, we leave. Nothing more, nothing less. Also…I get the leader.”

The guys all roared in agreement. Then, in just a moment, everything changed. We broke in, and soon, our fate was sealed.

I would protect McKenzie at all costs. Even if it killed me.

Chapter 17: McKenzie

WhenIcameto,I realized I was in some restraints tied to a wall. I looked around, fear present in my eyes.

“What’s going on? What are you doing with me?” I asked with a slight whine.

The guys laughed in the distance, not paying attention to me.

What the hell was going on? Why did they take me? Did I do this? Or was there another…reason for what I dealt with? I looked around, the fear snowballing with worry.

“Please, anyone, if you can help me! Please….”

The roars stopped, and I heard the presence of footsteps. I noticed the shadow in the distance, a big, burly man that looked like he could step on me without another word. He slowly walked over, the boots clanking against the metal floor.

I panicked. I struggled to stay calm, but how do you stay calm in a situation like this? What do you do when you’re forced to face…this type of situation.

He marched closer, and I noticed his big, hefty body there. He looked down at me, almost like I was some insignificant worm or something.
