Her eyes don’t leave his, and she couldn’t move if she tried.

He seems to understand. “Hazel,” he says quietly. “Iwillmate you.”

He means it as a threat, she knows. But it releases a weight she didn’t know she was carrying.

Alpha Alpha Alpha!

“So, you…” She clears her throat as she looks up at him. “Youwantme?”

He doesn’twantto leave her?

He closes his eyes and sighs slowly. “I swear,” he murmurs, “you are impossible.”

Then he kisses her. His mouth is urgent, and her body responds immediately, desperate for his affection. She groans against his mouth as he tastes her, and he pulls them further along the fence, far away from the others.

“Do you have any idea,” he growls in between kisses, “howbadlyI want you? Since I first took your car, I fantasized about stealing you away. I daydreamed about making you mine and forgetting about everything else.”

His words make her head spin, and he groans in frustration when she freezes in surprise.

“I’ll spend the rest of my life showing you,” he vows, pulling away. Her lips are kiss swollen, and she lets out a whine as he steps away from her.

“Guess what, sweetheart?” A smirk forms on his lips, devilish and full of mischief.

Sheadoresthat look.

“…what?” she asks hesitantly, delicious anticipation making her shiver.

His hand reaches out to caress her cheek, and she leans into the embrace. “My Rut is starting soon,” he warns her.

“Oh,” she breathes, her womb clenching in anticipation. Her knees weaken, and he holds her up to keep her from collapsing against his chest.

“Also…” his lips find hers again, harsh and demanding. When he pulls away, she’s panting against his mouth.

“It’s been more than a minute. Time’s up, Hazel.”

CHAPTER 35

HAZEL

She’s always been impulsive, which is what leads her to follow Abel, driven by Draven, to the Canadian border.

Draven, who happened to help Ava escape Lincoln City.

“Your friend was pretty,” he says to Hazel offhandedly as they cross out of Washington. He’s kind enough to drive the car while she stays with Abel in the backseat, his arm protectively wrapped around her waist. She leans into his embrace, nuzzling against his neck and inhaling his essence.

Draven’s scent is pleasant and welcoming, but it doesn’t inspire the passion that Abel’s does.

Abel’s feels familiar.

Abel smells likehome.

She wonders how Draven smelled to Ava.

“She didn’t treat me like a monster, either,” he adds as they stop at a checkpoint. “I got her number.”

Hazel sputters.

Ava definitely didn’t tell herthatpart.
