“Bye, sweetheart.”

I hang up and turn to see Sophia and Amber looking at me with big grins on their faces, holding a bottle in each hand.

“Jaz get the music on; we have these to drink whilst we get ready to hit the town!” Amber declares grinning. I place my phone into the speaker and put on my favourite band Nickelback. We quickly open a bottle of wine each and tap them together before taking a drink and giggling at each other.

I laugh as I watch my friends starting to dance around my room with their bottles in their hands, I quickly jump up and join them. Tonight, I’ll drink as much as I can, and dance until my feet hurt so much that I can’t stand. Let’s face it there is no one to tell me no and stop me anyway.

???

I’m so drunk. Actually, I’m too drunk. I want to say it’s thanks to the shots we’ve been doing but that’s a lie. I was drunk before we even left the house. Tonight, I seem to have lost the ability to say “no”. I’ve gone so far past my limit that it’s not even funny anymore. If any of the O’Reilly’s saw me now, I’d be in the shit. I know Damien wasn’t happy when he saw how drunk I was. But the thought of disappointing him doesn’t bother me anywhere near as much as disappointing my stepbrothers.

Sophia called her boyfriend earlier to meet us. The problem is her boyfriend is friends with Damien and he’s now here in the club watching me like a creepy stalker as I dance with my friends. He keeps coming over and dancing with us, but he’s getting very handsy. At first, it was fun grinding up against him, but the more I drink the more I realise sleeping with him is the last thing on my mind tonight.

“Come on Jaz, I need to sit down for a bit,” Sophia calls over the music. I nod letting her lead me to the table where Amber is talking to one of Damien’s friends. The only empty spot on the table is next to Damien, I don’t manage to hide the eye roll when I realise I have no choice but to sit there. As soon as I sit Damien places his arm around my shoulders and leans in closer.

“What’s going on with you?” he yells into my ear. I turn and look at him, forcing a smile.

“Nothing, just having a good night.” He leans forward and kisses me. I kiss him back because it’s what I should be doing, not because I want to. I quickly break the kiss and force a smile, ignoring the annoyance I can see in his eyes.

“Shots!”

We all look up to see one of Damien’s friends walking to our table with a tray of shot glasses. Oh fuck, this is the last thing I need, I’ve had enough to drink already. I try to decline, but no one’s taking no for an answer, especially Damien and his friend.

“This is a bad idea,” I sigh looking at the green shot in my hand, but Damien just nudges me chuckling.

“Come on babe, the last one I promise,” Damien laughs with his friends who wink at him. I shrug and down the shot, quickly shivering as the liquid burns its way down my throat and I cough whilst frowning from the horrible taste.

“That was foul!” I cough as Damien and his friend laugh at me. I feel Damien’s arm tighten around my shoulder and he pulls me against him.

“You don’t have to do any more I promise.”

I have a feeling that one may have just been the nail in my drunk coffin.

???

“Fuck Jaz you’re wasted!”

I look up from where I’m sitting on the cold concrete ground outside the club. Damien’s standing over me with his friend, both looking angry.

“I told you I shouldn’t have done that last shot,” I slur at them as the world starts spinning. I look around and can’t see Amber or Sophia anywhere, did they leave already? I try to open my handbag to get my phone, but I can’t see properly. “Fuck I’m drunk,” I slur as I close one eye to try and focus on my bag.

“You okay, Miss?”

I look up and see a bouncer looking down at me. He’s not much older than me but looks every piece the part and I have no doubt anyone who caused trouble in front of him would soon find themselves wishing they hadn’t. I shake and moan when everything spins.Crap.

“Are you with anyone?” he asks as he squats in front of me.

“She’s with me,” Damien announces behind him. The bouncer looks at him and then at me.

“Who is he to you Miss?” he asks. I’m about to reply “a pain in my ass” when Damien interrupts.

“I’m her boyfriend,” he declares standing tall. The bouncer stands up and looks down as he towers over Damien forcing him to take a step back.

“Well you’ve done a piss poor job of looking after her haven’t you!” he points out and I can’t help but laugh. I quickly place my hand over my mouth as Damien glares at me.

“Come on. Move it, now!” he snaps through gritted teeth as he reaches down and grabs my arm roughly trying to pull me to my feet.

“Get off me!” I protest as a hand grabs his arm and I look up expecting to see the bouncer, but instead, find Maximus O’Reilly glaring at Damien.
