“I may have made a point of turning up at her father’s house one night unexpectedly to ensure I knew what she looked like and she would recognise me,” he answers as he continues to sip his drink.

“She said you have been seeing someone for years,” I point out, Christian grins then and reaches up to run a knuckle down my cheek.

“It was always you, you just didn’t know it,” he whispers before leaning forward and pressing his lips to mine. “You were worth the wait,” he adds as I feel my cheeks warm.

Christian sits back and glances at his watch quickly.

“I hate to leave you, but I need to be in a meeting in half an hour. Layton will be picking you up from rehearsal, and I’ll see you at home later.” He stands up and fastens the button back up on his jacket.

“Now she knows who you are, if she causes any more problems let us know and we will end our agreement with her father.”

“I may have warned her if she so much as touches one of you again I will end her dancing career,” I reply with a smug shrug. Christian stares at me for a minute and starts laughing before leaning over and kissing me.

“See, spoken like a true O’Reilly,” he whispers into my ear.

“No one touches my Daddy,” I reply as he stands up.

“And no one dares touch you, baby girl,” he replies before turning around and walking away, leaving me looking forward to class and how much things are going to change around here.

I walk into the utility room and shake off my wet coat. All it has done all afternoon is rain, it’s the first heavy rain of the season and it seems to be sitting on the pavements rather than running down the drains. Although Layton had parked as close to the school entrance as possible I stupidly ran straight through a deep puddle and now my feet are cold and wet.

I hang my coat up on a hook and pull off my trainers. Looking around I spot some old newspapers piled on the side. Knowing they will help my trainers to dry quickly I reach for the top one. As I grab the paper, I accidentally knock the pile over and they all fall onto the floor in a mess. I sigh as I squat down to pick them all up. It’s then an old headline jumps out at me.

Drug dealer found dead in flat.

Sam Black, a well-known drug dealer was found dead yesterday morning in his flat. It is thought that Black was killed due to a drug-related incident. Believed to have been dead for several days he was only discovered after neighbours complained of the smell coming from his property. The police are asking for anyone with any information to come forward.

My hands start to shake as I read the article. I turn around forgetting about my wet trainers and rush to Christian’s office. Throwing open the door to see Christian sitting in his chair behind the desk.

“Hey, baby girl. How was school?” he asks as he looks up at me, I storm up to the desk and throw the paper in front of him.

“Did you have something to do with this?”

“I did,” he answers taking the paper and throwing it in the bin beside him.

“Why? Because of the flat?” I demand.

“As well as other things, yes.”

“For fuck’s sake Christian you can’t go around killing people because they upset me!” I yell throwing my hands up in the air.

“Watch your mouth, baby girl. He was a problem, so I dealt with it.”

“He was just one fucking guy!” I yell again.

“He threatened you! I will not stand by and ignore that. Now don’t make me tell you again, watch your language!”

“He didn’t deserve to die for one threat!” I yell ignoring him. Christian points towards the bin the paper now sits in.

“He had a diary in which he tracked your every move in that filthy flat he rented you. He had plans for you which involved his friends. I will not apologise for removing that threat to you!” Christian answers lifting his glass of whiskey and taking a sip.

“I’m here now he couldn’t have fucking touched me!”

Christian puts his glass down on the desk and stands. He walks around his desk and stops in front of me.
