For the first time since I met her two years ago, I don’t feel like Danielle is better than me. I used to look at her designer clothes and perfect hair, nails and make-up and part of me wanted that. Part of me wanted to be able to afford more than just sale items, or even second-hand clothing. But tonight I have a short designer dress on that hugs every curve coming to a stop mid-thigh but rides up a little as I walk or dance. My strappy shoes twist around my ankle and are black just like my dress. My outfit was given to me today by Jason and lord knows this man likes to shop for me. He is forever coming home with new clothes, bags, jewellery, and anything else you can think of. At first, I struggled with the idea of him spending money on me and although I still feel uncomfortable about it I have learnt to accept it is part of being with the O’Reilly’s. They love to show me how much they care by giving me the best of everything and I’m realising there is no point in fighting it. That doesn’t mean I don’t try now and again though.

“Have you been to this club before Jaz?”

I turn to look at Martine next to Verity and shake my head.

“I’ve not been to this one no. I don’t think I have been to any of their night clubs actually,” I admit as Danielle coughs from her seat.

“You have been to one! You went to the one down by the river a few times with those loser friends you used to hang around with! I saw you there!” she declares. I ignore the small prang of regret I get whenever Amber and Sophia come up in conversation. Part of me wishes they were here tonight, they were at my thirteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth, and they should be here too.

“That isn’t theirs!” I argue frowning at Danielle.

“Of course it is! How didn’t you know that?” she laughs as I think back to that last night I was there when the twins just happened to be in the VIP sector. I quickly pull out my phone and send a message to Maximus.

Me: You weren’t just in the VIP section that night I was wasted! You were there watching over me, weren’t you?

Maximus: Have you seriously just realised that? Shorty, I thought you were smarter than this. We always used to watch over you when you went out. Xx

I growl as I shove my phone back into my bag and start wondering how many other times any of them watched over me when I haven’t realised. It also annoys me that Danielle knows more about what the guys own than I do. I did say to them I wanted to know about their business, things like this matter. Well, they do to me anyway.

The feeling of the car coming to a stop pulls me out of my mini sulk as Terry’s voice comes over the music we have playing.

“Ladies, we have arrived. Please stay inside the vehicle until one of us opens the door.”

The four girls around me all squeal and all the worry that was in my gut a moment ago is lost in the excitement of getting my groove on. I can’t remember the last time I was able to dance the night away and just enjoy time with friends.

In moments we are piling out of the limo as Layton holds the door open for us and Terry waits on the pavement.

I look up at the tall building in front of us and am taken away by the beautiful black building. It might be a club, but you can’t hear anything from the outside. If it wasn’t for the people queuing outside and the sign that reads … “what the hell?” I look up and read the name of the place again.

“Shorty’s Night Club”

I laugh out loud as the girls follow my line of sight and frown.

“Who the hell names a club ‘Shorty’s’? That’s just weird,” Martine asks as I laugh again, I hear Layton laugh as he joins us.

“Yeah, Shorty is a weird name,” he says with a wink. I look at Terry who is holding his phone up.

“What are you doing?” I ask placing a hand up blocking his view of me.

“Someone wanted your reaction when you saw it,” he shrugs as he taps on his phone then shoves it back in his pocket grinning to himself.

“It’s Maximus’s club isn’t it?” I laugh. Terry nods before holding his hand to guide us to the front of the queue.

“Who’s Maximus? And how did you know that by the name?” Martine asks. I open my mouth to answer but Layton pipes up next to us.

“Yes, tell us Jaz. Who is Maximus and who is his shorty?” I spin around and glare at him, putting my hands on my hips.

“Shut your mouth or I will tell Daddy you watch my bedroom camera when I’m undressing!” I warn cocking one brow and biting the inside of my cheek to stop myself from laughing when his face drops.

“Christ woman you trying to get me killed?” his eyes almost popping out of his head as Terry roars laughing behind him.

“You are turning into a true O’Reilly, your daddies would be so proud!” Terry laughs. I look around and see my friends all staring at me with their mouths hanging open.

“I thought your dad left when you were eight and your boyfriends name was Christian, that’s who called you earlier,” Grace asks as I worry my bottom lip between my teeth. I don’t know whether it’s the fact I’ve had a few drinks to give me courage or that I just don’t care what people think anymore, but I open my mouth and spill the beans.

“The truth is I’m in relationships with four guys, who all know about each other. They are my daddies, like as in daddy doms. One of them is called Maximus who calls me shorty.” I throw my arm out to point to the sign. “Hence the name ‘Shorty’s Night Club’.” I look around them all and have to stop myself from laughing. Danielle knew all of this as she heard me refer to Christian as Daddy when she came around after the whole Hudson thing. The others had no idea and I think I may have blown their minds.

“Fuck that’s hot!” Verity gasps next to me and I stare at her wide-eyed. Verity is the type of girl who looks like butter wouldn’t melt and I have only ever heard her swear once. Never in a million years would I have expected that response from her.
