“Come on let’s get back out there I plan on making the most of tonight,” I announce as I pull my friends to their feet and we head off for another dance.

Jasmine

Tonight has been one of the best nights of my life. We’ve laughed and danced for hours and the only reason we are leaving is that the club is closing. I’m sure we could have stayed longer if we wanted to but Verity is very drunk and needs to go home. She’s so drunk we have stopped trying to get her to walk and Layton’s now carrying her as we all gather in the elevator.

“Okay, it’s very busy out the front so Layton you concentrate on getting Miss Verity to the car I will get the others. Jasmine, you stay close to me,” Terry snaps as he gives me a look, daring me to argue with him, but I know better. If I want a repeat of tonight, I need to show the guys I will follow all orders.

As soon as the elevator opens I realise there’s a problem. There are people everywhere all in various stages of intoxication. I’m at the front of our group with Terry beside me and Danielle who is swaying. As soon as we exit to leave Danielle falls and shouts out in pain.

“Fuck!” Terry yells next to me as he leans down to pick her up. In the commotion, I get knocked into and nearly fall over but someone catches me at the last moment. I look behind me and see the bouncer who had checked our ID.

“I’ve got Jasmine. You get the others to the car and I’ll bring her,” he yells as his grip on the top of my arms tightens. I can see Terry’s about to argue when the noise around us gets louder as a huge brawl breaks out. People are fighting everywhere and innocent people getting caught up in the middle of it all.

I watch Terry as he tries to assess the situation, trying to find the safest way for us to all get to the car. I look back at the bouncer and although something is screaming in the back of my head to not trust him, I ignore it and turn back to Terry.

“Get these to the car and I’ll be behind you!” I yell at him.

“Fuck!” Terry curses as a guy knocks into him and Danielle who is standing on one leg holding her ankle, obviously having hurt it when she fell. Terry turns to Layton who looks just as conflicted, I know they would both rather look after me, but they have their hands full with my friends, literally.

“Do not let her out of your fucking sight!” Terry screams at the bouncer who nods behind me as his grip tightens further, to the point it’s painful. Terry grabs Danielle and lifts her into his arms and nods to Grace and Martine.

“Hold on to our tops and stay close!” he barks before looking to the bouncer. “Count to ten and carry her to us so she doesn’t get knocked about,” he yells over the noise before turning away and heading to the car. Layton looks over his shoulder and for a moment our eyes meet, he’s not happy about this. Layton has been extra vigilant since Hudson attacked me. I swear he can be overwhelming at times, but he is great at his job and I know I’m safe with him.

“Go!” I mouth to him. I watch him let out a deep sigh and turn away from me and rush after Terry to wherever the car is. The second he’s out of sight there is a loud popping noise, quickly followed by three more.

“Fuck!” The bouncer yells as everyone starts screaming and running in all directions. The bouncer grabs me and lifts me into his arms. “Fuck!” he screams as the popping sounds again two more times.

“That’s gunshots!” I scream as he barges through a door to our right. “Where are we going?” I yell as he runs through another door which seems to lead us to the back of the club.

“I need to get you away from whoever has the gun, we can get to the car this way,” he yells as he places his finger against his earpiece. “I have her come to the back, now!” he barks, and I relax realising he must be speaking to Terry. I start to wiggle in his arms to be put down, but he just tightens his hold. “Stay still in case we need to run,” he barks and I instantly do as I’m told. Were those shots meant for me? Surely that’s too much of a coincidence, there is no way anyone would know I was here.

The bouncer adjusts his hold of me and I feel his watch or something scratch against my leg. I yelp from the sharp stabbing pain which eases quickly.

“What was that?” I ask trying to move to touch my leg, but he tightens his hold on me.

“Just hang on and you can look when you are in the car.” He places his finger against his ear again. “Well fucking hurry up!” he growls and I panic that whoever fired that gun is heading in this direction. I can hear a car in the distance and pray that it’s Terry and Layton. I find myself holding my breath as I look up at the bouncer still refusing to put me down. He’s visibly on edge and constantly looking around as if keeping an eye out for danger which just heightens my awareness of the situation. The guy visibly relaxes when a black car screams to a stop in front of us. I relax a little myself when I recognise the car as Terry’s. I can’t see inside as the windows are all blacked out but I know they would have not left without the girls being safely inside it. The back door opens and I’m thrown into the back before the door is slammed shut. I look around and no one is here. Then it dawns on me.

“This is the wrong car! We came in the limo!” I yell as the guy jumps into the front. I grab for the doors but they won’t open.

“Hit it!” he yells as he throws my purse that he’s holding and his earpiece out of the window. The car flies forward and the force knocks me into the back seat. My head is spinning as I look around and realise, I don’t recognise the driver next to the bouncer. I try the door again but when I try to focus on the handle I realise I can see two of them. Everything around me starts to spin and move. I don’t like this, it’s like everything is part of a dream, and it feels strange.

“What the fuck is going on?” I yell as I lash forward and grab at the bouncer who turns around and pushes me back into the seat.

“Sit down and shut the fuck up!” he yells glaring at me.

“Let me fucking go!” I scream, but I notice that my words are slurred and everything is spinning faster. I jump forwards again trying to get to him, but he pushes me backwards. “How long will the fucking drugs take to kick in?” he yells at the driver.

“Drugs?” I try to scream at them, but I’m overcome with tiredness that wasn’t there before. “Fuck!” I curse as I lose the ability to sit up. I slump to the side and hit the side of my head against the door. I blink repeatedly, trying to clear my head but it isn’t working.

“Sit back there and keep quiet and you’ll be fine,” the bouncer warns as I look at him and laugh, realising I’m not going to be able to fight the drugs for much longer.

“What’s so funny beautiful?” he asks grinning. I might not know where they are taking me or to whom, but I do know one thing for absolute certainty as I lose consciousness.

“They are going to fucking kill you.”
