“Almost there, boss.” The radio screeched for a moment, then Knox keyed it off.

“Don’t touch a fuckingthing,” Knox growled. He yanked his cell out of his battered toolbox, dialing the number as the horrific imagery before them burned into his memory.

“What do we do?” Vince said, his voice tight.

“Nothing. Not until Dmitri sees this.”

Vince swallowed hard, pale as a ghost. “And… and then what?”

“Then there’s gonna be hell to pay.”

CHAPTER15

Stacy

She hadn’t even gotten the truck up to fifty before it began to sputter, the engine surging, losing power. With no clue where she was going, no idea where she actuallywas, she knew she was cooked. And there was nothing for it.

Pulling the truck over to the shoulder, gravel flipping up and tinking against the undercarriage, the brakes squealed mournfully as she finally brought it to a stop. The way from the lodge was a long, twisting driveway down a hillside, emptying out onto a lonely country road she’d never seen before. All around her was the forest, as featureless as it was beautiful, and she realized she was just as lost here as if she was in the middle of a godforsaken desert, or a storm-tossed ocean. It was just a lot less unpleasant to be lost here than anywhere else.

But you’re just as fucked either way.

Quickly trying to ascertain what she might be able to take, she rifled through the interior of the truck, finding nothing but an old pair of work gloves, a rusty hammer, and a pair of keys so rusted and dirt encrusted, she had no idea what they were actually intended for.

“I can’t believe what’s fucking happening here.”

Just when it seemed like she’d figured out a way to bust free, to get out of the clutches of Dimitri and his psycho wolves, she was fucked overagain. It was cruel, it was unfair, but there was no sense in lamenting it at the moment. All she had to do was figure out how to get her ass out of the sling it was in.

Then she heard it, and she closed her eyes, cursing under her breath, knowing exactly who it was. She’d perhaps gotten three-quarters of a mile away from the entrance to the property where the lodge was located. She might have been heading west, or east, she wasn’t entirely sure as the sun was almost directly overhead. It had to be the west, actually, for the sun was just slightly toward the south.

A truck pulled in behind her, sliding in the gravel for a moment, a cloud of dust rising above it as it came to a stop. The truck’s door opened, and Dmitri climbed out, dashing toward her in a flash, moving faster than any man she’d ever seen before.

He’s no man.

She slumped back in her seat, defeated, as Dmitri’s big hand rested on the door, his stern face leaning in through the open driver’s side window. His scent, his essence was all around her in moments, and she bit into her tongue, willing herself not to ask him what every fiber of her being wanted. It was that same lust, that need she could no longer deny—and yet she tried to anyway. She had no other choice.

He’s going to fucking kill you.

Despite the real fear surging though her, it seemed not to matter at all to her body, her nipples aching bullets, her pussy a seething lake, her panties absolutely soaked, and every muscle in her body quivering as if a tiny electric current was crackling through each muscle fiber. The effect on her at his mere proximity was something she could never hope to understand, but itwashappening, and she knew in that moment she had zero defense against it. She just had to hope he didn’t know that.

The warm breeze carried his scent upon it, her mouth watering, her reaction to it instant, visceral, something she tried her best to hide, but at the same time knowing it was utterly futile. For he couldsee. The twinkle in his dark eyes confirmed he’d picked up on it, the confidence in his manner clear at the knowledge that no matter what she did, he already had his claws into her, already firming up his control, his influence, making it clear to both of them—whether she was ready to admit it or not—that part of her was already his.

“I don’t know what youthinkyou were doing back there, girl. But we’re gonna have to address the fact that you not only attacked me, but you weredisobedient. Disobedience is never tolerated here. Especially not from an omega.” He scowled at her then, the words causing her face to flush with heat. And not simply from arousal either.

“You know you could just let me go.” She gripped the steering wheel fiercely, until it gave a soft creak. “Show me how to get out of this place, out of here. You know, point me toward the exits. No one has to know that I left. Not even the feds. I could just… disappear.”

For an instant, she wondered if he was considering it, his eyes narrowing just the tiniest bit, a tic at the corner of his prominent jaw. Maybe if she was enough of a pain in his ass, caused enough trouble. Perhaps then, if she were very lucky indeed, he’d decide she was more trouble than she was worth.

Too bad your pussy’s not on board with the idea of leaving. She thinks it’s much too early to leave just when things are getting interesting.

“Bitch,” she hissed under her breath.

What she hated most was the truth of it, that sheknewshe had to leave, that getting away from him—fromthem—was her only hope at figuring out what the hell had happened. But where would she go? Whatwasshe now that the FMB had cut her loose?

Do you even care anymore?

For the first time, the cold realization of it settled upon her like a suffocating weight.

She had no idea what her future held.
