Instead of getting up right away, I remained in place, swimming in my own secretion. I didn’t care. My center was still throbbing and I was still on a natural high from the orgasm that tore through my body.

I’m somebody’s wife, I thought, lifting my hand to see the two rings on my finger.Halo SaraBella-Domino. The new addition to my name sounded so weird that Ledge and I decided to hyphen it instead of changing it to Halo Domino. Neither of us was feeling it much. It sounded far too short, rhythmic, and forgetful.

In a very swift courthouse wedding, we read our vows to one another after stopping by the jeweler for matching bands. His was much wider and far more masculine than mine, but they were still a pair. By the time we finally walked out and into the street a married couple, it was four o’clock and time to pick up Lailah.

We ended the day by cooking dinner together at home and having sparkling water since champagne wasn’t on the list of things I could or wanted to consume. It was a perfect day. I wouldn’t have traded it for a big wedding even if I had the chance.

When I finally got out of bed, I showered and followed each step of the skincare routine that Baisleigh had shared with us all. I rubbed my belly down with the belly oil that I’d used on Lailah’s bump months prior and then slid into a comfortable dress that flowed like water with each move I made.

“Kamber?” I called out as I descended the stairs to find her. “Where are you and where’s Lailah?”

I’d already checked her room to find that she’d disappeared.

“In here,” she called from the dining room.

I followed her voice through the downstairs area until–

“Surprise, honey!” Kamber said to me, stepping away from the others and closer to me.

In the dining room, there was Ever, Lyric, Baisleigh, Kirklynn, Yoshi, and Alec. they were each dressed in tan-colored, silk sets that read bridal party across the back. Each of them did a little spin for me to see. Their names were stitched in the front, making me wonder how long they’d had to put it all together.

“What– What are you guys doing here? Where’s Ledge? How did you guys even know?”

“Well, you sure didn’t tell us,” Kamber hissed.

“I was planning to. That’s why I called you over.”

“He beat you to the punch, babe,” Ever explained.

“Sorry, pretty lady. I just wanted you to feel a little like the bride you are even though you opted out of the wedding and shit.”

“Oh God, baby. Why didn’t you tell me? How’d you guys get all of this in here? I’ve only been upstairs for thirty minutes.”

“Ledge let us in before he came upstairs an hour ago.”

My face blushed another shade as I turned to him.

“Yes, we all know what you were up there doing,” Lyric said.

“At least we know you’re getting dicked down properly. Close your mouth before something flies in it,” Kamber suggested.

“Ledge.” Still, I was speechless.

“Honey, get ready to get showered. It’s your day. We all get busted down. How do you think we’ve got babies? Don’t sweat it. Just don’t scream so loud next time. Y’all woke the baby.” Lyric started in my direction.

“This had to be your idea, huh?”

“All of it,” Ever confirmed.

“Of course, it was,” Baisleigh sniggered.

“And, you guys are saying that like I’m offended. I play about a lot of things and I let you and Ever get away with these little bitty ass ceremonies, but I’d be damned if we don’t get it popping for the post-bridal shower,” Lyric fussed.

“Is that even a thing?” I asked everyone.

“She made it one,” Ever answered with a shrug.

“And, we’re rolling with it. Now, put this on,” she demanded, handing me a silk robe.
