Sullivan wanted a more traditional job so he had weekends with his growing family. Torin showed no signs of slowing down on his bachelorhood so it worked out well for him.
Eddie came over to him and gave him a slow, lingering kiss. “Hi.”
“Hi. I missed you.”
“I was right across the room,” she said with a smile that showed she loved that he wanted her with him all the time.
He pulled her against his chest, or tried to. Their son in utero prevented him from fully pressing their bodies together. “I still missed you.”
Their other son came running over and inserted himself between them.
“Ed!” Finn said, rubbing Eddie’s belly like the baby was a genie in the bottle. “Did you see there’s ice cream?”
Kids were undoubtedly a cock block. He and his wife had gotten really creative in finding sexy times, with Finn none the wiser. He imagined that was only going to get harder with two kids. But it was well worth it. All of it was worth it.
“I did see there’s ice cream. Give one more second with Daddy then we can go get some.” She ran her hand tenderly over Finn’s hair but stared straight at Sullivan. “It’s your fault he calls me Ed,” she said under her breath. “It always sounds like he’s greeting a seventy-year-old man instead of his stepmother.”
Sullivan laughed. He couldn’t even deny it, because she was right. “It’s cute though.”
“To you,” she scoffed.
But then Finn hugged her around the middle and said, “I love you, Ed.”
She visibly melted. “I love you, too, Finn.” She met Sullivan’s eye. “Okay, it’s cute to me too.”
He couldn’t have paid the kid to play that better. Finn was a charmer, that was for sure. He had adjusted to their new family dynamic well. The only thing he complained about was not spending the night at Rick and Sloane’s anymore. He missed his cousins, but they tried to all have family dinner on Monday nights now so that was helping to fill in the gap.
Lilly set the baby carrier down next to them with her three month old daughter sleeping peacefully in it. “Can you watch her for two seconds? It’s my turn to compete. Liam disappeared.”
“Sure. We’ve got her.”
“Thanks.” Lilly lingered, eyeing her baby with pride and joy. “God, she’s adorable, isn’t she?”
“She is. O’Tooles make great looking babies,” he told her.
Lilly laughed. “I walked right into that, didn’t I?”
“Totally.”
“I’ll be back in ten minutes.”
“Is she planning to win shuffleboard in ten minutes?” he asked Eddie. “I don’t think she understands this game.”
“I don’t think any of us understand it. We’re all learning as we go.”
“My baby sister,” Finn said, dropping to his knees on the floor and putting his hands on Olivia’s cheeks. He gave her baby face a little squeeze. “She’s so cute,” he cooed.
Seeing his son loving on Olivia made his chest tighten. He hoped Finn would be as excited when his baby with Eddie arrived.
“She is very cute, but buddy, she’smysister, not your sister. She’s grandpa’s baby, so she’s your aunt.” He didn’t blame Finn for being confused. It was a mind fuck, no doubt about it.
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Finn said, rolling his eyes around to emulate craziness. “She’s just a baby. How can she be your sister?”
