She bites down on her lower lip. “Fine. Come in. My parents went out for dinner, so there’s nobody here.” She turns and walks into the house, leaving the door open.

I step inside and close the door, walking into the house until I find her in the kitchen, pouring a cup of coffee. “John said you came in and ran back out. I’m assuming you heard me and Jessica in my office?”

Her brows lift. “Yep, I heard her begging you to take her back. So, are you here to break things off with me?”

“That’s what you think?”

She shrugs.

I shake my head. “I gave her the divorce papers.”

Her eyes widen. “You did?”

I nod. “I told her we’re done.”

“Oh.” She lets out a nervous laugh. “I feel stupid.”

“Why’d you take off like that? Did you really think I was going to just drop you after these last couple of months?”

She crossed her arms. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about us, about where we’re going. I just never got around to it. I was scared it would ruin what we have. And then today, when I heard her asking you to take her back, the only thing I could think of is how you loved her and would’ve taken her back before. I thought that maybe you wanted to keep us a secret in case she ever showed up.”

I step toward her. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you too, because I don’t want to keep us a secret anymore.”

“You don’t?”

I shake my head and close the space between us. “No, she and I are done. You’re the reason I wake up in the morning. You’re what makes my life worth living now. I’m sure you’re the one I want by my side.”

A tear rolls down her cheek. “Me too,” she agrees, and I pull her against me for a long kiss.

RILEY

Ayear has passed, and I couldn’t be happier with how my life has turned out. Travis and I are both officially divorced and free to marry again if we wish. Although we’re living together at his place and still working at the bar, we’re in no hurry to make it official. Instead, we’re just focusing on making every day worth living in every way possible. I do have to say that our news came as quite a shock to our families. Our parents couldn’t have been happier, as the families have always been so close anyway. Evie, on the other hand, was completely repulsed by the hookup, and while she made it known, she was also happy for us. Things couldn’t be better as we finally get to walk around town like a normal couple instead of a couple of kids sneaking around.

I walk into the bar, and everyone greets me with hellos and warm smiles. I walk around the bar and Travis greets me with a kiss. “Hello, beautiful.”

I smile up at him. “Hi.”

“I thought I told you to take a nap before you came in? You still look tired.”

I laugh as I set my things down behind the bar. “I did take a nap. I’m just always tired these days.”

“How much longer?” Tom asks.

I smile and run my hands over my swollen belly. “Another month, but she doesn’t seem like she’s in any hurry.”

Travis smirks. “I’m never in a hurry when I’m inside you, either.”

The men laugh while I playfully smack his arm. “We’re going to be parents now. We shouldn’t be so vulgar.”

He winks. “I think the bar is a safe space and since we have a while before she’s allowed in here, I’ll save it for when I’m here. Promise.”

“Fine,” I agree, switching over the register.

“When are you two getting married, anyway?” Tom asks. He’s always so nosy.

Keeping my eyes on the register as I sign in, I answer over my shoulder, “We aren’t in any hurry to involve the state.”
