“I can sleep on the couch.”
“I don’t think so.” I pressed my hand against the small of her back and nudged her into the bedroom. “What kind of man would make you sleep on the couch?”
“When you found me I was sleeping in a pile of hay.”
“I didn’t forget.” I removed my tie, and then unbuttoned the first few buttons of my shirt. “I’d say you’re in a much better position than you were a few days ago.”
“I am.” She dropped her gaze to my chest. “I appreciate everything you’ve done for me.”
“Show me.”
“What?”
“I want to see what a half million dollars bought me.”
“A half million?” When she bit the corner of her bottom lip, my cock stood at full attention. “That’s a lot of money. That’s more than what they said my father owed.”
“It is, but I don’t do anything that doesn’t benefit me.” When I came toward her, she backed away. “Don’t do that.” I reached for her arm and brought her closer. “Let me see if you’re worth it.”
“You want me to take my dress off?”
“That’s a start.” This woman was going to take patience that I might not have. “I’ll help you with the zipper.” I spun her to face the mirror, staring at her in the reflection. “You’re absolutely stunning.” I slung her hair over her shoulder. “It drove me insane to see so many men take second glances at you.”
She dropped her gaze, looking away from me.
“The fact that you’re so unaware of the power you hold makes you all the more appealing.” I pressed my lips to the side of her neck as I lowered the zipper on her dress.
She tensed when I ran my fingers down her spine.
“Relax.”
I slipped the strap off her shoulder, revealing her round, perky left breast. Instinct caused her to place her arm across her chest, covering her exposed nipple with her hand.
I swiped the other strap down, exposing both her shoulders, and ignoring her embarrassment. She had no idea how impressive she was. Kissing her neck, I placed my hands over hers and pushed them down her sides, taking the dress with them. The silky material rested on her hips, giving me access to her bare upper body.
She gasped when I inched forward, pushing my erection against her backside. I met her gaze in the mirror, noting the flush in her cheeks. “You can take the bed.” I turned her to face me. “But there is one thing I want from you before I go.”

I took her chin between my fingers and tilted her head to the side before lowering my mouth to hers. She parted her full lips when mine touched hers, granting me access. If sweet innocence had a taste, it would be her. Her soft form collapsed against my rough exterior with such need.
She moaned into my mouth as I deepened the kiss. I slipped my hand down her throat and to her breasts, taking one in my palm and squeezing. “Thank you.” She reached for my hand. “For everything.”
“This is just the beginning.” I brought her knuckles to my lips. “I’m going to give you everything you want.”
