She turned in my arms, coming to a standstill. I took her hands in mine and draped her arms over my shoulders before putting my arms around her waist and bringing her to me. I swayed us to the music as I gazed into her sultry eyes.

“Where did you learn to dance?” I asked.

“My grandmother liked sixties music. When I was young, she would put on her old records and we would dance in her kitchen.”

“Did you spend a lot of time with her?”

“When I was a kid.” She clung to me, letting me lead. “After she died, I went to live with my father.”

“You moved around a lot.”

“How did you know that?”

“I had to do some research so I could find out who your father owed all that money to.” I cupped the side of her face in my hand. “I’m resourceful.”

“I can tell.” She released an unsteady breath when I grazed my thumb along her lips. “I’ve been thinking.”

“About?” I lowered my mouth to hers, fighting the temptation to kiss her in the middle of the congested dance floor.

“I…ah…” She gazed at my mouth. Is she as distracted as I am?“I wanted to say…” She inched closer to me. “Yes.”

“Yes, what?”

“I’d like to take you up on your offer.”

She gently bit down on my thumb when I pressed it between her teeth.Fuck, that made me hard.

“You’re sure?” I had fully expected her to say yes, but now that she had, I needed to make sure she understood what I wanted from her. What I needed from her.

“Yes, if you still want me.”

The vulnerability in her expression, and the uncertainty in her voice, drove me insane. Her beauty and innocence was a huge factor in all of this, but my desire to take care of her and keep her safe was just as big.

“Want is not a big enough word.” I took her hand and led her off the dance floor.

“Where are we going?”

“To our room.”

“Wait.” She stopped in the lobby by the elevators when I pressed the button. “I… I told you I’ve never…” She fidgeted with her hands. “Does it have to be tonight?”

“Nothing will ever happen between us that you don’t want.”

When the doors opened, I steered her inside and then backed her against the mirrored wall. I pushed the button to our floor as the doors shut.

“But I promise you.” I trailed my lips along her jaw. “You’re going to want everything I do to you.”

She gripped my biceps when I brushed my mouth across her neck and moved my hands down her sides. I lost the battle with the erection I had been trying to control all evening when a quiet moan fell from her lips.

Once the elevator dinged and the doors opened, I took her hand and led her down the hallway to the corner suite. Keeping her hand in mine, I swiped my card in the door and guided her into the room. Her apprehension and uncertainty enhanced my desire for her. She looked around the suite, glancing at the archway where she could see the king-size bed.

“I didn’t realize I would be bringing a guest when I booked this room.” I tossed the keycard on the table by the window. “But sharing a bed is part of this deal.”

I tried to book a two-bedroom suite when I decided to have her accompany me, but it was too late because all the rooms were taken.

She walked around the suite, pushing the hair from her eyes, and then biting her thumbnail. Her nerves took over. If I went easy on her tonight, how would I get her to understand I was in charge?

“Go into the bedroom.” I pointed toward the archway. “I had our luggage delivered earlier.”
