The guys all looked at each other, and my stomach knotted further in dread. Nothing good ever came of them thinking collectively.

“We had other plans, but since you’re trying to avoid going home...” Leyton stepped closer. “You were avoiding home and not us, right?”

He didn’t give me a chance to answer as he kept talking.

“We’re going to pencil you in. As a special treat, we will let you pick.”

“Damn, we’re good people. Need a Nobel peace prize for how generous we are,” Theon joked.

Please let this be over.I knew whatever choice I had, it would be hell or worse hell. There would be no lesser of the two evils; it never was when it came to their games.

A crashing noise came from behind the guys, and they all turned to see who it was. I peeked around Leyton to meet Mr. Mayer’s eyes, my calculus teacher. He’d been nice and even dragged me to the side a few times to ask if I needed help with anything. He was a bit handsy, but he was there.

Hope blossomed full throttle in the middle of my chest. This time for sure someone would help. Mr. Mayer only taught seniors. There was no way he’d be afraid of a bunch of freshmen.

“Hey, Mr. Mayer. I heard there is a teacher conference upstairs,” Leyton said.

“What?”

Leyton glanced over his shoulder and smirked at me before turning back to my math teacher.

Mr. Mayer looked at the guys and scooped up the remainder of his stuff. The hope that had taken root stuttered as he avoided eye contact with me. He would be like the rest and ignore me.

“You guys make sure you don’t stick around too long,” Mr. Mayer said. He walked away, dragging my momentary hope along with him.

How fucking stupid.

“Fuck you.” The words were already out before I thought better of them.

Mr. Mayer bristled and stopped in his tracks. He glared at me with a red face. “Mr. Laureati, just because you’re a senior doesn’t mean you can get away with such blatant disrespect. Detention tomorrow.”

He can’t be serious!

Theon laughed and playfully slapped my face. “Man, I knew you were stupid, but to think you’re that stupid.” He shook his head.

No one said anything else until Mr. Mayer couldn’t be seen anymore.

“Were you hoping he’d save you?” Leyton asked.

I clamped my mouth shut and stared at the floor. It was stupid; I knew that. But for a short second, I’d believed at least one person would care about me. I was so fucking wrong.

Something smacked me in my lower abdomen, knocking the air out of me. I coughed and sputtered. What the hell was that?My stomach clenched, and warmth erupted in the pits of my belly as if I’d eaten an entire bag of spicy chips. I hadn’t even noticed that Foxyn released me, too engrossed in what was happening to me.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” Foxyn asked.

I lifted my head only to freeze in place. I never noticed how blue Foxyn’s eyes were. Or how thick his lashes were. He was striking as hell. On some level, I knew the guys were good-looking. Plenty of girls gushed over them daily. They’d always been my tormentors to me. One look at Leyton had my knees wobbling. Tan skin, black hair, brown eyes, and a strong jaw.

What the heck is happening to me?

Theon jumped in front of me, and I swore the heat that was swirling in the pit of my stomach tripled. I wrapped my arms around my midsection and tried to figure out why in the hell I wanted to stare into the deep greens of Theon’s eyes for hours while running my fingers through his blond and brown curls. Why in the fuck do I want to be around them?It was the last thing I should want.

“Let’s get out of the hallway before we’re interrupted again,” Leyton said.

Foxyn grabbed me up. It physically burned where he touched me. My breathing turned to pants as I was dragged along. I didn’t even have the fortitude to fight back or try and run.

They want you all to themselves. How sweet.

“What?” I shouted.
