“I don’t want that right now. I just want you to lie down beside me.”

“Your wish is my command.”

He crawls into bed, fully clothed. I sigh and rub my face into his broad chest, yawning.

He runs his big hand across my hair and then whispers, “Sleep, baby. I’ve got you.”

I slide into sleep then, my dreams a confused mess of worry about babies and lust for my hubby.

But I know that, Harrison will take care of me no matter what. I’m always safe with him and I always will be.

He’s my own personal neanderthal and I love him for it.

Epilogue Two: Harrison

“How’s Daffy doing?”

I smile at the owner’s wife, Fern. “She’s doing great. The morning sickness is mostly over. She is going crazy wanting to go back to the shop but the doctor is making her wait another week.”

Her dark brow lifts, “Is there something wrong?”

“No. She just struggled with the morning sickness so much that now that she’s better he doesn’t want her to go back until she gains a few pounds.”

“I’m so happy to hear that. Are you leaving early today? You’ve heard about the storms coming, right?”

I turn around. “I thought the storms were going to go around us.”

She shakes her head, her smooth, tanned brow knitting. “No. It changed directions again. It’s heading right for us now.”

“Shit!” I run my hands through my hair. “I didn’t plan on that. I’ll have to leave early then. Do you think the boss will be upset? I’ve missed so much taking care of Daffy?”

She swats my arm. “You know Jameson better than that! Family always comes first! And all of you guys are family to us both.”

“Thanks, Fern. I’ll just finish this last job up and be on my way. I need to make sure that Daffy’s not running to the shop.”

“Absolutely. You let us know if you need anything at all. Even if it’s just picking up some food for y’all.”

My heart lifts and I smile at her. Lately, it feels like everything has me on the edge. Mainly because I’m so worried about Daffy. But I’m also so happy that my little sister has settled down and finally moved past some of her grief. That she’s working on her future, not our past.

Mac stalks past us and out the door, his hands clenched into fists. Fern’s wide eyes follow him.

“Is Mac alright?” He’s one of our newer hires and he’s definitely got a temper.

“Mr. May is alright. He’s just stressing about the storm and making sure that everything’s all tied down. The guy hates loose ends.”

She nods. “Okay. Well, thank you, Harrison. Tell Daffy if she needs a girl’s night, we’ll come over there and bring the pizza and ice cream.”

I chuckle. “Don’t forget the chocolate sauce.”

Fern grimaces. “Yuck. Cravings.”

“Yeah, I’ve never seen such combos. But I’d gladly do whatever she needs, even shopping for junk that shouldn’t be anywhere near each other.”

She smiles and waves.

I walk out the door and the humid, stagnant air smacks me in the face after the air conditioning.

“Shit! Ugh!” I watch the dark clouds off in the distance and my worried eyes dart over to Mac when I hear him hollering at someone.
