I grab my cell and look up Wildwood’s number, listening to it start to ring. I count two rings and start to hang up. They’re probably not there on the weekend.

“Hello, Wildwood Construction.” A cheery voice picks up and I can’t think for a minute, my brain going completely blank.

“Hello?”

“Umm, yeah. I run the pottery studio downtown.”

“Oh yeah. Clay Dreams right? What can we do for you today?”

“I was hoping you would know someone that can help me. I came in this morning and my lights didn’t come on and I was thinking there might be something wrong with my breaker box. I don’t know anything about that kind of stuff though.”

“Oh my! I know just the person and he happens to be here today.”

“Oh no. I just wanted a recommendation. I don’t need a whole construction company.”

She laughs loudly. “Trust me. This guy is the best. I’ll get him out there. He does side jobs too so don’t worry that we’re gonna send a whole crew.”

“Th-thank you. I really appreciate it.”

“Sure. I’ll have him out there in about half an hour. Just stay put and get some flashlights or something.”

“I’ve got my phone.”

“Oh yeah. I’m sorry. I have trouble keeping up with these newfangled gadgets.” My eyebrows lift and I stare at my phone like it started talking to me.

“Okay. I really appreciate this.”

“Don’t you worry, honey. The boys love getting to do a little side work. See you.”

I hang up the phone and wince, rubbing my throbbing head. I hope I don’t have a massive bill coming my way.

In half an hour I’m waiting by the door, praying that he gets here soon and it’s a simple fix. At least for the pro. Not for a layperson like me.

There’s a knock at the door and I flinch then open it before really looking. I gasp when the man I’ve been trying not to think about pushes his way in, towering over me.

“I hear you’ve got a little problem with something not turning on, princess.” His smirk makes me want to slug him.

My back stiffens and I glare at him even as my eyes eat up all that gorgeous masculine energy. He’s so tall that I have to step back and lean my head back until it cricks.

“You have to make everything sound dirty, don’t you?” I groan internally and want to kick my own ass.Why the hell did I say that?

His evil grin widens and he looks me up and down until I glare at him, wanting to pout and flip the light off on my phone.

“I’m not the one that’s thinking dirty thoughts here, princess.” His big body moves closer until I can’t help breathing in the musky pine scent of him, feeling the heat from his body surrounding me until I’m gasping and hoping he doesn’t see the flush on my cheeks. His free hand that’s not holding a toolbox comes up and touches my cheek gently, making sparks fly under my skin.

I flinch back and he drops his hand quickly, his smile fading away. “Yeah. Show me your breaker box, princess. I’ll try and get out of your hair quickly so I don’t sully you with my dirty hands.”

I open my mouth to tell him that’s not what happened but I just sigh and my shoulders sink. “Right. Come on, Harrison.”

He whips around to follow me. “You know my name. I’m at a disadvantage, princess.”

“It’s Daffodil but most people call me Daffy.”

A smothered guffaw bursts out of his wide chest and I grunt. “Laugh it up. It’s a family name.”

“Yeah. That’s rough.”

I turn around and he runs right into my finger. I jerk it back and cradle it to me. I think I almost broke it on his hard chest. “Listen up, Harrison! I don’t know what your problem is with me but I don’t have time for this shit. I have a class coming in about an hour and I need to get the wine and canvases set up.”
