“I thought you did pottery.” His grey eyes shimmer in the light of my phone and I fight to keep from moving closer to him. Wanting to look up into those fascinating eyes that swirl with anger and desire and so many other emotions that draw me in that I can’t resist.

“I do most of the time. But on the weekends I do other things for fun.”

He snorts. “Painting is not fun. I do it all the time.”

I roll my eyes. “I’m not painting a bedroom. This is fun painting. Acrylics.”

He glares at me. “Yeah. I’ll pass. Show me the box, princess, and I’ll try to get you set up.”

I stomp off and I hear him chuckling behind me. “Why the hell did you ask my name if you didn’t intend to use it?”

“I just like getting you riled up,Daffy. You’re pretty when your face is all flushed with temper.”

I move aside when we reach the box and he opens it up, his flashlight studying what’s wrong.

He grunts and mutters something under his breath and I lean in closer, hoping to catch what he’s saying. “What was that?” I ask.

He glances down at me, his lips twisting wryly. “Well, princess. I hate to burst your bubble but whatever is wrong isn’t in your box. His eyes dip down and I feel heat bubble up in my veins when I see where his eyes are. Locked on my breasts.

“My eyes are up here, neanderthal.”

His grey eyes shoot up and he grins. “Yeah, I know. Anyway, I’m going to have to take a look around and probably go up into your attic to see if it’s one of the other things that I’ve got in mind.”

“My attic?” I groan and run my hands through my hair. His darkening eyes watch the movement and he looks positively devilish when his eyes meet mine again.

“Yeah. I’ve got a few ideas, some easier than others. But I’m gonna need to go up there so if you could point me in the right direction I’ll get out of your hair. It’s going to be more than an hour though.”

“Shiitake mushrooms,” I growl like an angry cat.

“Excuse me,” he says, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I must have missed when we started ordering lunch.”

I flush and my shoulders hunch up. “I’m sorry. My parents don’t like it when my sister and I use foul language so I have gotten creative about it.”

He throws his head back and laughs so hard that his eyes blur with tears and he ends up bent over, gasping for breath. “You’re an adult, princess. If you want to curse, then curse. But thank you. I haven’t laughed that hard in ages. You’re damn good for me.”

“Yeah. I’m a laugh riot,” I mutter under my breath. “Let me show you the drop-down access. Then I better start calling my students and letting them know that class is off today.”

“This might take a whole day, princess. You better put up a sign because for right now, you’re closed for business.”

“Fudgesicles.” He laughs again and I lead him back to the small store room in the back with the drop-down access. “It’s up here.” I start to drag a ladder over to get up high enough to grab the drawstring but he catches my arm and I gasp, the tingle where his fingers wrap around my bicep setting off all kinds of alarms.

“I’ll take care of this, thank you.” He doesn’t even need a ladder. Doesn’t have to stand on his tiptoes. The dang giant just reaches up, doesn’t even fully extend his arm. Just reaches up and pulls the string and the ladder and drop-down panel easily move into place.

I eye his bulging arms and his big body, annoyed that he doesn’t even have to stretch. Not even a little. “You know, it’s not actually fair that some people get all the height and the rest of us are stuck with the dregs, living out our lives having to haul around ladders and heels to reach stupid things.”

I grin and chuck her under the chin. “I know. Doesn’t seem fair. I’m glad I got the height though, princess.”

“Of course you are. I’ll let you get to it. Catch you later.”

His eyes dart down to mine and his full lips surrounded by the scruffy beard tilt up in a wicked smirk. “I’ll definitely catch you later, princess. You can’t run from me now. I know exactly where you are.”

I stalk away from him, trying to pretend that I’m annoyed. I’m not though. I’m fascinated, turned on and really freaking grateful that he showed up for this job. But annoyed? Nope. Not even a little. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

For a long time, my life has been a little dull. Harrison is not dull. No matter how much he wants to be.

I should run. Hide. But instead, I think I might just enjoy the ride and hope that he smiles a lot more. I like it. His smile is like a fallen angel and just as pretty.

I have a feeling that man is no angel and I can’t wait to find out.
