I laid there with my eyes closed as he cleaned up and then curled into him when he climbed back into bed. His arms wrapped around me, tugging me closer against his body, making me feel cherished. My heart twinged as I dropped off into sleep and I knew if I allowed it I could easily fall in love with Trip.

CHAPTER6

Trip

Igroaned as my phone woke me up. The number was the same as the last, but I hadn’t downloaded any of my contacts yet. Along our hunt for Eric more than one phone had been lost. I was on an endless stream of burner phones. Bringing it to my ear, I muttered, “What?”

Glancing down, I ran my hand over Marina’s golden hair. She was lying face down, cheek against my chest, her leg hiked over mine. Her dark lashes rested against her cheek and I didn’t want to wake her so I kept it down.

“Trip.”

My brows shot up as I heard Rat’s voice. “Hey, Brother. Got something for me?”

Marina stirred, so I ran my hand up and down her back, soothing her back to sleep.

“Yeah. Eric.”

“No shit?”

“We managed to find out who he’s staying with there in San Francisco.” Ari’s excited voice sang out over the connection.

“He’s never been so reckless,” I said, suspicion overriding the urge to crow with excitement.

“Maybe he’s ready for this to be over,” Ari suggested.

“I know I fucking am. Thanks, you guys. Rat, text me the address.”

“You got it.”

I disconnected the call and set the phone aside. Gathering Marina more fully into my arms, I sat holding her until my phone buzzed. Groaning, I forced myself to slip out from under her and dress. The last thing I wanted to do was leave. The need to crawl back into bed and fuck her again was so overwhelming I almost did.

Shaking my head, I left her sleeping in my tangled sheets so I could go track down our enemy. If I was lucky I could get there, kill Eric, and get back before she woke up.

I shoved Drew’s door open without bothering to knock. A sweet butt’s head shot up, her eyes sleepy. I grinned at her and smacked my palm against the door, waking him up in the process. “Get the fuck up. Rat called.”

That’s all I’d say in front of the woman Drew had fucked last night, but it was all I needed to say. His dark eyes met mine and he nodded, shoving away from the woman.

I walked downstairs and sat at the clubhouse bar, waiting for him to join me. As soon as he did, I was out of my seat. It was early and no one was around as we walked out to our bikes.

Tossing my phone to him, I straddled my bike. “Eric is there.”

He stared down at the location on the GPS and nodded. “Let’s get this over with.”

I pulled my Glock out from where I’d shoved it into the back of my jeans. Forcing the slide back, I double checked that there was a round in the chamber. We’d be going in with pistols. Riding around this city with rifles on our backs was just a little too obvious. We’d attract too much attention. I could only hope that we didn’t end up walking into more than we could chew.

We were deadly. It was the reason Cade trusted us to take out Eric, but even we could end up outnumbered. Eric had far too many allies. The Texas Syndicate was far reaching and it had allowed him to hide from us for far too long.

It didn’t take us long to make it across the city. We parked up the block and left our bikes. Approaching the house on foot, we kept a look out for anything suspicious. They shouldn’t know we were coming, but we couldn’t afford to let our guard drop. The house was on the outskirts of the city, but there were still homes everywhere, surrounding us. We were going to have to do this fast and get the fuck out before the cops were called.

The house looked like all the others surrounding it. The windows were dark and I hoped Eric and whoever else was inside were still sleeping. That would give us the element of surprise.

Drew looked around the quiet streets as we stepped up to the front door. I took a lock picking set out of my back pocket. One of my MC brothers’ old ladies had shown me how to do this.

A few minutes and the flick of my wrist and the door opened. Everything inside was dark and quiet. I put the tools back into my pocket and pulled my gun out. Drew did the same and we stepped into the home, shutting the door quietly behind us.

We began systematically searching the rooms. I frowned when we found the second room empty. What the hell?A door slamming and feet pounding had my head jerking toward the back of the house. Without much thought, I ran.

Two guys booked it out the back door and across the lawn. I holstered my pistol as I sprinted after them. One was over the back fence before I could reach him, but my hand closed over the second man’s ankle. Giving a hard yank, I jerked him off the fence and watched as he landed on his back on the grass.
