“Happy tears,” I say through them.

“Ah.” He pulls me from Alaric's embrace and they switch me out so Alaric can go dress.

“Did I hear confessions of love from you both?” he questions.

I nod, still overcome with my emotions.

“Well, then it’s my turn,” he announces. “ Elizabeth Bennet, I love everything about you and can’t wait to try and give you back even half the love I feel for you.”

He kisses me and the love he infuses into the mating of our lips is so profound that more tears slide down my face mixing with our kiss.

After our kiss slows and comes to a natural end he helps me from the bed and Cade is there with my clothes, ready to help me get dressed.

The tenderness in each graze of his hands on my exposed skin is filled with his yet unspoken love.

Once he finished putting my shoes on my feet, he rises and hugs me, gently kissing my lips that feel like a bee stung them.

“I love you too, pet.” He tweaks my nose, giving me a warm smile. It’s the perfect way for him to declare his feelings for me.

“And I love you, Cade.” With all three of them now knowing how I feel and their reciprocation, I feel lighter. Add on top of that, my new job, and I’m not so worried about my future. It is looking very bright after all.

23 Beginnings

Come Monday morning the following week, I pass through the doors of Cammy’s boutique, Flash, and am in awe of the opulence inside. There is a huge crystal chandelier hanging in the entrance and marble floors from the door all the way back farther than I can see.

Each station has a client chair, a sink with a dip that’s padded for comfort, and a massaging chair.

The reception desk is elegantly done in all black to offset the white marble floor with shots of gold throughout.

“Elizabeth!” Cammy comes from a back room, her arms open wide as she walks on her red stilettos.

“Hi, Camile,” I say, giving her a lame half-wave and feeling awkward.

“Let’s get you set up at reception.” She smiles at me, flashing her perfectly straight, blindingly white teeth.

I’m glad I went with a simple deep blue form-hugging dress to mid-thigh and nude pumps. Though next to Cammy’s sleek, dove gray pants suit, my outfit feels lacking.

I follow her behind the tall reception desk that is at standing height and she wiggles a mouse to wake up the computer monitor. With a few quick clicks, she's got the schedule book pulled up and I see they offer a wide range of services from a simple trip to waxing and spray tans. They even have different kinds of massages on offer. It’s all impressive and a bit overwhelming.

“Okay, so all you have to do is type in the service and the program will bring up our availability then you pick a time or person that works for the client and schedule it by inputting their information in the time slot under the person providing the service.” She thoroughly explains it to me.

“That’s it?” I ask, surprised at how easy it seems.

“That’s it.” She smiles at me and then begins my tour of the boutique.

It’s a lot bigger than I originally thought from the outside. It takes about twenty minutes to get through the entire place.

As the day progresses, I decide my earlier statement of scheduling being easy, is actually false. It’s like a madhouse. Everyone wants multiple services with specific beauticians or masseuses and they all want the time they want and if it’s already taken, it’s a bear to find a time they’re satisfied with. The phone is constantly ringing, and before clients leave they also want to book their next appointment.

So by the end of the day, I’m frazzled and my feet are killing me. I don’t know how Cammy still looks perfectly polished when I’m ready to murder someone for giving me guff about the time slot they want already being taken.

“Well, how was your first day?” Cammy asks as she locks the front door and comes my way. There is staff cleaning their stations or restocking the products that customers bought throughout the day.

I don’t want to sound ungrateful so I downplay how overwhelmed I am. “Busy, but I like the fast pace.” The smile I offer her doesn’t reach my eyes but I keep it there regardless.

A full belly laugh erupts from her, and she throws her head back, holding her midsection. “You’re a terrible liar, Elizabeth. I’m a domme after all, so I can read people pretty well. I know how hectic things can get up here, but I appreciate you humoring me.”

No, my smile does reach my eyes and I’m glad she’s not upset and knows my pain.
