“Let me take you out for dinner on Friday to celebrate your first full week here. My treat,” she says.

“Oh no, I couldn’t let you do that,” I begin to decline.

She waves my objection away. “Nonsense, I insist. I’ll make sure it’s okay with your harem and it will be just us two girls.” Winking at me, she types out a text on her phone and walks, away not giving me much choice.

My phone chimes with a text and I pick it up from the desk to see it’s from Cade.

:Cade:I’m here whenever you’re ready. :)

:Elle:On my way out. XOXO

Blowing out a breath, I gather my purse and phone and head out ready to be off my feet. Note to self, don’t wear high heels again.

I get into Cade’s car and kick off my shoes.

“So, how was your first day?” he asks with a smile.

I lift a brow and give him a ‘what do you think’ look. He chuckles, checking for a break in traffic, finding one, and off we go.

We go back to my place and Rhett and Alaric are already there, waiting outside for me to let them in.

“I should give you guys keys so you’re not waiting for me like this when we go to my apartment,” I say, more to myself. Not wanting to, I slip my heels back on with a groan of pain.

Cade just makes a noise in his throat and gets out coming around to open my door for me. I’m too tired to decipher what that means.

Rhett and Alaric both give me hugs and kisses of greeting before I let us into the building.

I take Cade’s offered hand, and the four of us take the elevator up to my apartment.

24 Moving Things Along

Searching for my keys in my purse as we exit the elevator, Rhett takes them from me and lets us in. I toss my purse on the kitchen counter and head to my room, kicking my shoes off on the way and leaving them where they fall.

Alaric picks them up and follows me, Cade closely following. Rhett is talking on his phone and it sounds like he’s ordering takeout for us.

Good, because it’s been a while since I’ve gone grocery shopping. I don’t think a meal of crackers and peanut butter is going to cut it.

I plop on my bed, not having the energy to do anything else right now. Who knew answering the phone and dealing with pampered people would be so exhausting?

Alaric puts my heels away then comes over to me and begins rubbing my feet.

Groaning with the relief his very capable hands provide, I close my eyes. They pop right back open when Rhett joins us and Cade brings up my statement of keys from in the car.

“We don’t want keys to your apartment.” His words are final, and my heart sinks that they’re not ready for that.

“Okay.” Sadness laces my voice. It hurts more than I thought it would.

“It’s because we want to move in together,” Alaric’s deep voice adds.

“All four of us,” Rhett clarifies.

I shoot up to sit in my bed, shocked and elated all at once.

“Really?” I ask, my excitement leaking though.

Alaric chuckles but doesn’t stop massaging my feet. “Yes, baby girl, really.”

“What do you think, kitten?” Rhett leans over with his fists on each side of me in the bed.
