“Fucking nothing!” I growl.

“We just have to hope that one of the other groups finds something.” I almost laugh at Wyatt’s words.

“Hope? That’s real fucking funny, Wyatt. What’s that saying? Hope springs eternal misery?”

“Hunt-” He starts to reply, but Grant cuts him off.

“We’ll find her, Hunter.” His words are hard and are spoken so resolutely that I almost believe him. “I won’t let you lose her.”

Wyatt’s phone begins ringing and he answers it instantly. “Yeah?”

I can’t hear exactly what’s being said but I know it’s Cole on the other end by the sound of his voice. “We’re on our way.” Wyatt hangs up his phone and without a word we rush to his car and peel out of the small empty parking lot.

“Did they find her?” I finally ask once we’re on the road to where I assume Cole and Gunnar were sent.

“Yeah.” Wyatt’s short answer doesn’t sit well with me, and I want to fucking scream at how fucked up this all is.

“Tell me the truth, Wyatt.” Before he gets the chance to answer, he pulls the car into the parking lot of a small apartment complex. It’s rundown and clearly hasn’t been lived in for at least a few years. There’s caution tape and it looks as if they’ve been preparing to demo the place.

We jump out of the car and are instantly greeted by Cole yelling for us. “In here!”

My feet begin pounding against the pavement as I run to where he indicated as quickly as I possibly can. The moment I step inside, everything in me stops. My heart, my breath. All of it.

“Bash-” Anya’s soft whisper breaks me. My sweet girl is not only tied to a chair, but blood is also dripping down the side of her head, and her body looks completely battered and worn.

“Why the fuck is she still tied?” I rush forward, but Gunnar’s arm stops me in my tracks.

“Hunter, stop.”

“Why? Why the fuck-”

“She’s strapped.” Cole's statement has my blood turning cold and Anya’s beautiful dark eyes fill with tears.

“Where’s Tanner?” Grant asks, but I tune them out, focusing on the only person in the world that matters to me.

“Baby-”

“I’m sorry, Bash. He- He said that we were meant to be. I- I told him I love you. It made him angry-”

“Shh, shh, baby. It’s okay. You’re going to be okay.”

“Hey Anya,” Grant’s voice says softly as he comes to kneel in front of her. “I know it’s hard, but I need you to hold as still as possible, okay?”

“Okay.” He moves behind her and a low curse comes from him. Less than a minute later, more men filter into the room, but I keep my gaze solely on Anya.

“An?” Alec steps forward cautiously and Anya’s eyes move to her brother.

“Hey bro.” He lets out a rough breath and I have to swallow the lump in my throat because I’m so fucking close to losing it.

Tanner rushes into the room and everyone immediately makes a path for him and he beelines it to where Grant is.

“How long?”

“Eleven minutes. But it’s not simple wires.”

“Fuck.”

As much as I want to listen and be clued into what they’re talking about, I can’t. Anya needs me to focus on her. “It’s going to be okay, baby.”
