We arrived back atthe safe house with Abigail and Maria. As we walked into the elegant mansion, I let out a small sigh of relief. We weren't out of danger yet, but I felt better being somewhere that Teo and his men controlled.
"Abigail, Maria, you both must be hungry. I had some of my men stock the kitchen to hold us over until we leave. Please, go help yourself," Teo said in his usual charming voice and the two of them hurried off to the kitchen.
"How about you, can I get you something?" Teo gently tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and softly pressed his lips to mine.
"More of that would be nice." I smiled.
"Soon," Teo promised. "I want you to have time to heal and build your strength back up first."
I nodded but he leaned in to kiss me once more.
"You said until we leave. When are we leaving?"
"As soon as possible. But we still have to figure out how we were going to get an extra two people out of Corsica undetected."
"I'm sorry for putting a kink in your plans."
"You know I don't mind a little kink." Teo smirked playfully and I slapped his arm, feigning disapproval which made him laugh.
"In all seriousness though, thank you for helping Abigail and her daughter and for trusting me enough to let me do it my way."
"Oh, I learned my lesson about going up against you last time." Teo smiled affectionately. "I'm just glad that you're okay. When I found out that Gabe had taken you, I was thrown. But then to find out that Andrea had gotten you again. I knew he wouldn't make the same mistakes as last time. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to find you."
"Howdidyou find me?"
"Gianni's wife, of all people."
"His..." I felt sick remembering what Andrea had done. "Gianni's dead. Andrea killed him."
"I had a feeling. So did his wife which is actually why she came to see me. She was afraid for herself and their daughter. I promised my protection in exchange for the information she had."
Teo's phone chimed but he ignored it. "Come on. Let's get you something to eat. Then you can relax in the tub."
"Okay."
After a good meal and a relaxing bath, Teo assured me that Abigail and Maria were settled in, and he carried me to bed.
