"I don't want your money." His voice had a new, icy tone that barely sounded like him.

"W—whatdoyou want?"

Gabe let out a dark chuckle, "for you to come with me."

"Why?"

"Does that really matter with your father's life on the line?"

"No. Please don't hurt him?"

"You want him to remain unharmed, then you do exactly what I say."

"Okay." My voice trembled with fear more for my father than myself.

Gabe tossed a length of rope onto the ground at my feet. "Tie his hands together, then have him sit in the chair."

"Okay. Just don't hurt him." I moved slowly, not wanting to spook Gabe, as I bent down, got the rope, and slowly walked over to my father who still had Gabe’s gun pressed to his head.

"It's okay, Papa. I'm just going to put this on you."

"Don't you listen to this thug. I've dealt with men like him in my day..."

"Papa, please? You don't want either of us to get hurt do you?"

"No, of course not,angioletto."

"Okay, then we just need to do what he says, and everything will be fine."

I looked at Gabe for permission to move my father to the chair after I'd tied his hands together and Gabe nodded, keeping the gun pointed at Papa so there was no chance for escape.

Once he was in the chair, Gabe turned the gun on me. "Now, come over here, on your knees with your hands behind your back."

"Gabe, please? What do you want from me?"

"I want you to do as you're fucking told," he snapped.

"Don't you talk to my daughter like that you son of a—" My father started to get up in an attempt to defend me, and I screamed as Gabe slammed the butt of his gun into the side of his head.

My father crumpled back into the chair, dazed.

"He's just a confused old man. You don't have to do that."

"Then do what you're told, and I won’t have to resort to something worse."

"Okay, okay."

I held up my hands and lowered myself to my knees slowly. As soon as I was in position, Gabe quickly tied my wrists together.

"Good. Now we are all going to go get in my car without causing a scene."

"Gabe, please, I'll do whatever you want, just let my father go."

"Okay. I'm not an unreasonable or heartless man. If you are a good girl and go to the car without trying anything, then I'll let you drive to the nearest hospital, and we can drop him off there where he will be taken care of."

"Okay."

Gabe led us to the car. He made me take the driver's seat while he sat in the back with his gun pointed at my father. I drove to the emergency room and reluctantly dropped my father at the front entrance.
