Her small body toppled me, and we both tumbled to the ground. I lifted my gun, letting off two rounds into Gabe's chest, and he crumpled to the floor.

"That was some quick action there, micetta." I turned back to see Sienna, holding her arm, blood leaking between her fingers. "Shit. You've been shot."

"I'm okay." Her eyes fluttered weakly, and I caught a glimpse of blood in her hair as well.

"Your head."

"I hit it in the fall."

She looked pale. Gunshots continued to ring around us. I scooped one arm under hers and helped her to shelter while keeping my gun aimed and ready.

I propped her up by a stack of boxes and she fought to keep her eyes open.

"Why the hell did you jump in the way and get yourself shot?"

"He was going to shoot you."

"It would have been better me than you."

"It's a through and through. A flesh wound. It just hurts like hell."

I couldn't help the short chuckle that escaped me. "Well yeah, nobody said gunshot wounds were fun." I pressed a firm kiss to her forehead. "I'm going to get you out of here."

And with that, her eyes fluttered closed, sending panic coursing through my veins. I had to get her out of there. We had to end the fight.

Chapter 30

Sienna

I dreamed that I was busy treating patients in the hospital. The quiet, rhythmic beeping of a heart monitor lulled me into a familiar comfort. It was a sign of a steady heartbeat. The sign that my patient was doing well.

There was the sudden sound of gunshots and someone calling my name in the distance, but I couldn't reach them. I struggled to reach the voice calling my name, but I was helpless against the darkness that enveloped me.

The loud blast of a gun rang in my ears, and I jolted awake. My eyes flew open before shutting tightly again at the painfully bright light of a hospital room.

There it was again. The quiet steady beeping. The quiet chatter of the hospital.

The lights were dimmed but they still felt too bright. I looked around and spotted Alessandro slumped in an uncomfortable hospital chair in the corner. He was okay. He made it out okay.

I smiled, watching him sleep so soundly. Just then, the door to my hospital room quietly creaked open and Teo stepped inside, looking surprised when he saw me.

"Oh, you're awake," he whispered. "I would have knocked if I'd known, but I didn't want to wake up Alex."

"He looks exhausted," I whispered as I looked at him.

"He hasn't left your side since we brought you in yesterday."

"Yesterday?"

Teo nodded.

I sat up straighter in bed and gripped the rail as a wave of dizziness hit.

"Careful," Teo kept his voice low but rushed to my side. "You hit your head pretty hard."

"My father. Gabe made me drop him off at a hospital in Greece before we left."

"My guys picked him up last night. Alessandro didn't know where he was, so he had people call around all hospitals in case someone found him. He’s back at the assisted living facility."
