“Something that could be used to blackmail someone, perhaps?”

“Exactly.”

“Text me all the info you have and I’ll run it through our networks. Might take a day or two.”

“Thank you, Valentino. I mean it.”

“I owe you more than looking up information. You saved my life.”

“This is all I need. Keeping my angel safe is the most important thing to me.”

“Well then how about I settle for an invite to the wedding?”

“Deal,” Brewer grunts.

We say our goodbyes, and I head back into the dining room. My eyes are drawn to Katya, and I can’t help but smile at how beautiful she is. Our three-year-old, Kira, is balanced on my wife’s hip, sound asleep as sunlight from the bay window bathes both of them.

Katya returns my smile, weaving through the people to stand beside me.

“What are you thinking about?” she asks, gracing me with another smile.

“You, of course. It’s always you.”

Katya rolls her eyes, but I know she loves it. My woman went twenty years without hearing a single kind word, and it’s my mission to make up for lost time.

I slip my hand into Katya’s, weaving our fingers together as I lift her hand to my lips. “You’re radiant today,” I tell her, bending to kiss her temple.

“You always say that.”

“It’s always true,” I counter.

My sweet girl blushes as she leans against me, resting her head on my shoulder. I wrap an arm around her waist and tuck her into my side, pressing a kiss to Kira’s head and then Katya’s. My heart is filled with pride and joy as I hold my wife and daughter and watch my other daughter obliterate her piece of cake the way only a child can.

“Love you,” Katya sighs, her eyes fluttering closed.

“Love you more,” I whisper.

Katya tips her head up, peeking one eye open. “Nope. Not possible. I’ll fight you on this one, mister.”

“I expect nothing less,” I say with a chuckle.

My woman gives a satisfied nod before snuggling back into my embrace. I never thought I’d be this happy, never thought I deserved goodness in my life, but Katya changed everything.

I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life showing her my gratitude.
