“Damn it Montana. I hate that shit and you know it.”

“Get the fuck over it. Now, it’s almost three and your little princess will get out of school soon. Do you want Malice to swing by and pick her up or should I have mom do it?”

“Have Mom do it. Malice pisses her off.”

Montana chuckled. “Malice pisses everyone off. Now let’s go.”

It was after five when Montana and I walked into his three-story corner mansion across from Central Park. Passed down through the generations, the Stone House was a city landmark. All who saw the place knew that a Stone lived here. When Montana took over the Soulless Sinners after his father stepped down, he also inherited the house. Though his parents were still living, they wanted something smaller and moved into one of the new penthouses on Fifth Avenue.

The place was massive and a bit ostentatious for my taste, but then again, I was used to a bike and the open road. Hell, even the house I built for my daughter in Tennessee was a bit much. Though I grew up in a similar home, I never really understood the need for all the bells and whistles. It just wasn’t me.

“Ah,” a bubbly middle-aged woman with graying hair greeted us as we walked into the kitchen. “There you two are. No time for chitchat. Dinner is almost done and your mother and Ms. Elizabeth are entertaining your guest in the sitting room. Hurry upstairs and make yourselves presentable. I will serve dinner in fifteen minutes.”

“Who else is here?” Montana cautiously asked, as I heard the little pitter patter of feet. Stepping around him, a familiar cherub face toddled into the kitchen. Moving quickly, I scooped up the little vagrant and smiled. “You little sneak. You are in big trouble.”

The little girl squealed, slapping my face just as I heard, “Brianna!”

Before I could utter another word, Linsey rushed into the kitchen and my heart stopped dead in my chest. If I thought she was fucking beautiful before, she was absolutely stunning now. Gone were her laid back casual clothes and high ponytail she wore. The woman that was standing before me looked elegant and downright mesmerizing.

“Oh, it’s you.”

Montana snickered as I narrowed my eyes at the woman who’d been plaguing my dreams for weeks now. The same woman who bolted on me without a damn goodbye. The very woman who still refused to forgive me for my outburst. Since my arrival in New York City, she was the same woman who was shutting down every attempt to see her. I was done with this cat-and-mouse shit. I hated games. I should have known a woman like Linsey would be stubborn. Yeah, I fucked up, but I admitted my mistake, or at least tried to. The fucking woman was too damn obstinate for her own good.

Not thinking, I dumped Brianna in Montana’s arms before grabbing Linsey, yanking her from the kitchen. Ignoring her shock, cries and foul temper, I forced her to follow me into the nearest room, slamming the door shut behind me.

“Just what in the hell do you think you’re doing, Vicious?”

“What I should have done from the start,” I stated, before grabbing her face and kissing the holy hell out of her. She may kick me in the balls for this, but damn-it, I was tired of apologizing.

It was time she got with the program.

I should have known the second I gave into my desires that she would turn my world upside down and inside out because the moment I had her in my arms and my lips touched hers, I knew I was home.

I felt it.

For the first time since I was sixteen, I felt at home. All my searching, wandering, never feeling settled vanished as she sank her soft, subtle body into mine, allowing me to deepen the kiss. Hearing her moan sent tendrils of pent-up desire racing through my veins. The need to consume her rode me hard, but now was not the time. Right now, I needed her to understand that I wasn’t playing around anymore and I sure as hell wasn’t letting her slip through my fingers again. Linsey may believe that she is only the spare and second best but that was the farthest thing from the truth.

She was mine.

Mine to protect.

My woman.

I was claiming her as mine for all eternity and God help anyone who got in my way. My woman would never have to stand alone again. She would never feel second best again. I was going to put her on a pedestal above all others.

“Now that’s how you take care of business, boy.”

Cutting the kiss short, I moved Linsey slightly to the side as I saw George Stone, the head of the Stone family, smiling warmly at me.

“Prez.”

Mr. Stone stood. Even after all these years, the man was intimidating and powerful. Though no longer the President of the Soulless Sinners, every brother still called him Prez. The man earned the right. He bled for it.

“You make that decision yet?”

Fuck me. I should have known he would know what Montana wanted. There wasn’t anything that still went on in the club that Mr. Stone didn’t know. The club may have sent him to pasture, but the man was very much still a member.

“No sir. I have two weeks to decide.”
