My eyes snapped to Malice and Fury. Both men smirked.

“They won’t hurt anyone ever again.”

“Then what’s the problem?”

“Owen Slander. The man who kidnapped the girls is a known pedophile.” As soon as those words left my mouth, I saw Linsey quickly putting two and two together. Slowly shaking her head, I tried desperately to ignore the tears forming in her beautiful eyes. God, I wanted to protect her from this shit, but I couldn’t. She was the girls’ aunt, their guardian. She needed to know. “We need to question Brianna.”

Linsey jumped to her feet. “She’s barely two!”

“I’m so sorry, baby.”

“Oh, God!” Linsey cried, falling into my arms as I held her tight. Looking to Fury, I asked, “Please go get Brianna.”

“Vicious, no,” Linsey sobbed, “She’s just a baby. This must be a mistake. She’s been happy, laughing, and herself since she came home. I would know if something happened.”

Malice stepped forward. “Linsey, we’ve never formally met. My name is Gideon Scott. The club calls me Malice. I’m also a trained and licensed child’s therapist who specializes in emotional and physical trauma. Under any other circumstance, I would believe you, but trauma like this is hard to decipher in children so young. Brianna is only two. She doesn’t understand. Has she shown any signs of being scared, upset, clingy or aggressive since she’s returned?”

“No. None of those. She’s been perfectly happy.”

“What about acting inappropriately?”

Linsey shook her head.

“Is she still talkative?”

“Yes.”

“Has she complained of headaches or stomachaches?”

“She said her tummy hurt last night but that could be because I gave her ice-cream. She’s lactose intolerant, and all I had was the dairy kind.”

“How is her appetite? Is it still the same?”

“She eats everything I put in front of her. Even her veggies.”

“Any nightmares?”

“None.”

“Does she complain about being in pain? Any itching, bleeding or bruising that you’ve seen around her genital area?”

Linsey emphatically shook her head. “No. None. I checked all three of the girls the night they returned. I bathe them every night, Malice. Even if I saw a rash, I would call Vicious right away.”

Malice grinned. “That’s good Linsey. What about sitting or walking? Have you noticed her being careful, like is she having difficulty doing either of those things?”

“No. She’s a monkey. She likes to jump and plop on the furniture.”

“Has she been hiding anything? Been secretive?”

“No. She’s been perfectly normal.”

Fury knocked before walking in with a bubbly Brianna who was holding onto a pink marker for dear life. Linsey went to move, but I grabbed her around the waist, holding her against me. Malice stood and turned to Fury, looking at the little girl.

Speaking in a soothing tone, I never thought possible, Malice talked directly to Brianna. “Hello Brianna. My name is Gideon. Can you say Gideon?”

“No!” Brianna giggled, slapping Fury in the face.

Her father grinned.
