I ignored the groans that were now coming from both of the grumpy Doms. Though I wasn’t sure if Ender wanted a tour, I thought it might be a good idea to show him that everything looked normal. He didn’t seem to think we were serial killers… and God, now I sounded like Gaylen and Tabitha… but it couldn’t hurt to be welcoming.

Pushing away the random thoughts, I chuckled as Tabitha straightened and bounced excitedly. “Goats.”

Ender rolled his eyes as she grabbed his hand and dragged him through the house to the living room, perfectly comfortable and looking like she owned the place. I loved it. It wasn’t until he passed off a diaper bag to Gaylen as she tugged him faster that I realized he’d packed her a few things.

He must’ve seen my curious look because he answered the unspoken question as he let himself be dragged through the house. “Another pretty dress just in case, a few things like her binkie, and a change of grown-up clothes.”

All good things to have for a playdate with a little.

“Thank you.” I wasn’t sure this was the time to ask what she had on under her clothes but I knew I had to figure that out before he left. Her dress was poofy enough that it could easily hide a slim-fitting diaper but I didn’t think she’d been wearing one when I hugged her.

But it was better to be safe than for things to be awkward and problematic later… especially with a little who didn’t seem to use many words.

As she led him over to the back window and bounced, pretending to look for the nonexistent goats and giggling, Ender glanced back at me again. “She’ll probably stay little most of the time. If that changes at any point, then you can help her get dressed in her grown-up clothes and she can let me know if the pickup time needs to be adjusted.”

They were the weirdest best friends I’d ever met.

That must’ve shown somehow because he rolled his eyes. “She’s got a tank top on and these boy-shorts things that cover more than a bathing suit. Until you get to the diaper phase of your relationship, just point her toward the bathroom once in a while. She can handle that herself and you’ll help her wash her hands.”

Gaylen was coughing, badly attempting to cover a laugh, which just made Ender look at us both like we were ridiculous. “This isn’t rocket science or that difficult to manage. It’s one little.”

Versus more than one?

I had so many questions and I wasn’t sure how to get any of them answered.

“You’re right.” Trying to smooth over his frustration or at least make him think we weren’t stupid, I tried to backtrack so he wouldn’t think we were feeling weird about him. “You two just have a stronger friendship than we’ve run into before. We’re not trying to judge or assume things but sometimes we’re not sure… sometimes we have questions.”

Oh, that hadn’t come out right.

Ender didn’t quite roll his eyes that time but Tabitha’s giggle and Gaylen’s quiet snicker said they both thought the whole thing was funny. “I can understand that. We’ve been good friends for a long time and we also work together. It makes me forget that we have a different relationship than people are used to.”

Well, that was a step in the right direction.

So they’d been friends for a while… he didn’t see her naked… they worked together.

Yes, that was good information.

“I’m glad she has you.” I gestured toward Gaylen, who was still trying not to laugh. “We both are. Our questions aren’t based on assuming something bad or jealousy.”

Nothing in the way he looked at her said he saw her as a sexual being or even had a crush on her. The closest thing I could compare it to was an owner and a puppy. The real kind, not the kinky variety. He was taking care of her and trying to teach her and socializing her around other people.

Yep, she was his puppy.

I wasn’t sure it was terribly healthy for either of them but I wasn’t going to point that out for a lot of reasons. Unless it somehow fucked with our relationship with Tabitha, now or in the future, if he wanted to help care for the puppy, that was fine with me.

Hmm… kitty?

Somehow the analogy didn’t sound right with a cat, but I wasn’t going to worry about that at the moment. We had a list of other things that were more important than my ramblings and the way Gaylen kept calling her kitten.

Ender seemed skeptical of our intentions or maybe the whole thing in general but I couldn’t blame him. He’d probably met more than a few Doms who were so territorial that his relationship with Tabitha would’ve felt like competition.

I wasn’t sure what I could say that would calm his fears or at least stop him from worrying, but Gaylen seemed to take that as his job as Tabitha bounced over to the coffee table. “Daddy. Colors.”

“New colors, Miss Tabitha.” Focusing on her was the easiest part of my day and probably the week in general, so I plopped down beside her and let Gaylen handle the grown-up problems. “And new coloring books and new snacks for later.”

That got a giggle from her and she leaned over to do a terrible stage whisper. “Daddy snacks? Grumpy Poppy snacks?”

Clearly she remembered my griping earlier in the week about the lack of quality snacks in the house.
