The extra sway in her step was almost comical. The guys noticed and laughed quietly amongst themselves, not giving her more than a quick glance, which was probably for the best. I was embracing my inner psycho these days, and I’d hate to see where full-blown jealousy led me. After the kidnapping and bonding, I’d grown even more attached to them. I’d never thought myself the jealous type, but now it was rearing its ugly head.

“Here you are, sir. Enjoy your meal, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything,” she said, leaning forward to show her cleavage while batting her eyes.

He nodded once and turned to me, pulling out a chair and helping me sit. She pouted a bit and hurried off, leaving us in peace.

The waitstaff was there in seconds, one holding a wine menu and the other bringing over bread with oil and herbs.

Everyone around us screamed money and class. High-end clothes, more diamonds than I could count, and judgmental eyes flicking to the tables around them as they whispered amongst themselves. I’d dealt with these people as part of my job, but sitting down for dinner with my guys… It felt like a whole different world.

I was so over my head that I was ready to duck under the table and hide.

Sterling put his hand on my thigh and leaned in. His breath fanned over my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.

“You belong here. You’re not out of place. It’s all in your head. My omega knows how to hold her head high and play this game, doesn’t she?” he asked in a husky whisper.

“I do,” I said without a second thought, letting his confidence bolster my own.

“Do you want me to order for you?” he asked. I nodded, happy to let him take the reins on this one. But I swore to God, if this was one of those tiny portion places they were stopping for burgers on the way home.

Cyrus handled the wine, and in less than five minutes, our glasses were filled, two with red wine, two with white, and sparkling for me.

“You remembered,” I said before taking a sip. Between the bubbles and the mix of sweet and tart, it was perfect.

“Of course,” Cyrus said. I’d mentioned my love for champagne only once in casual conversation. They might be assassins and criminal overlords, but they were also observant mates.

My hand absently ran over the bite on my shoulder, and he grinned, knowing exactly what I was doing.

Thankfully, I was saved by the hostess leading another man over. She gave the newcomer the same treatment she’d given Cyrus. Damn, girl, rein it in.

Cyrus stood, and the rest of us followed suit. The newcomer greeted us with an easy smile. He was around the same age as Cyrus, but his hair was a rich auburn. It was styled meticulously, and he wore a navy blue tux that had his pale blue eyes standing out.

“Ah, you must be this mysterious omega I’ve been hearing about,” he said, giving me a bow before taking his seat. “Sit, please.” We all did as he asked. “I’m Randy, nice to meet you.”

“Bailey,” I said in response, giving him a smile.

“Have we ordered?” he asked Cyrus before glancing at the menu. “I’m starving.”

“We have not,” Cyrus confirmed. The man took a few moments before waving our waiter over. I was glad that Sterling had taken the lead, putting in both of our orders, since everyone else at the table was comfortable enough to handle their own.

“Now, to business?” Randy inquired. “I’ve stumbled across something I thought you’d find interesting. Your brother mentioned you were working for the senator.”

“Former brother. He passed away,” Cyrus said easily. Randy’s eyes widened before he shrugged and moved on. His lack of questions made me assume he was no stranger to their lifestyle.

“I have a few pictures you might find interesting,” he said as he handed over what looked like a leather journal. When Sterling opened it, I had to hold back a gasp. The photos tucked inside showed the senator with several women, some of whom looked more like escorts if I had to make a guess. Even worse, a few couldn’t be eighteen.

“Disgusting,” I muttered and closed it. “But these are perfect.”

“Ah, I see you’re in the know,” he said, nodding in approval. “I appreciate a pack that keeps their omega right beside them as equals.”

“She’s just as involved as we are,” Cyrus confirmed.

“I’ve had enough of this man,” Randy said with a sigh. “He’s overstepped and thinks his influence is a gift from god. I’ll be glad to watch you humble him.”

“Humble him, we will,” I promised. These pictures were the type of irrefutable evidence we needed. Was it enough? No. But if we could pair it with the things we’d already dug up and a little more, we’d be golden. That would be enough that even he couldn’t charm his way out of it.

“Five years ago, my daughter disappeared in this city,” Randy said. His voice was full of sadness, and my heart broke for him. “She was an omega. The kindest soul, too. For years, I’ve searched for Molly but found nothing. If you come across her name in any of your research, I expect you’ll contact me without hesitation?”

“Absolutely,” Cyrus said. “You know I always do.”
