I had a feeling the two men had bonded over their mutual losses.

“If you would like anything more, I’ve got a decent amount in their dossiers,” Randy told Hayes this time.

“We’d appreciate that. I’ll send over an encrypted email and site for you to share,” Hayes promised quickly.

Our food was brought out, and the conversation switched to much easier topics like the upcoming election and local sports. I ate my pasta and listened, enjoying myself. I’d expected to hate this, but Randy was just another guy, and the guests around us could care less about anyone but themselves.

A while later, we said our goodbyes, and I clutched the leather journal in my hand as Sterling led me out of the restaurant and back into the car. The moment we pulled away, I pulled them out, closely inspecting each and every photo.

“There are so many more than we thought,” I said as I fought to swallow down the bile rising in my throat.

“Randy’s information will likely help too. He’s just as invested as we are,” Cyrus said. “Molly was a sweet girl. We went to college together, and his pack are good people.”

“How did she disappear?” I asked him as I continued to flip the pages, finding more and more. The stack was growing too quickly to process it all.

“She had just married, actually. She was only nineteen, but the pack was great. They were meeting her for dinner after work, but she never showed up. Her employer said she left for lunch and never returned, meaning they were a solid four or five hours behind the disappearance. There was a huge city-wide search, but she hasn’t been seen since. The amount of money that Randy has thrown into the search would stun most people, but in this case, the money hasn’t been as powerful as you’d expect.”

“I hope we find her,” I said. “Make sure he sends us what she looked like then, including details about anything noticeable like scarring or a birthmark, that kind of thing.”

“We keep our eyes out when we dive into the ring, but I’ve searched for years and haven’t found her.”

“Oh my god, stop there!” I said, pointing at the diner we were driving by. Cyrus swerved into the lot, earning a honk from the car behind us. He parked, and everyone turned to look at me. The feel of their collective annoyance made me wince.

“What is it?” Cyrus demanded.

“I’m hungry,” I said. “Did you see those portions?”

“Dammit, Bailey,” he growled. “I thought something was wrong.”

“Thereissomething wrong,” I countered. “Your omega needs to eat. That pasta was a child’s portion, and I didn’t eat lunch today.”

“You didn’t feed her?” Sterling demanded of Weston, who shrugged and grinned back at his brother.

“I fed her my cock. Does that count?”

“No,” Sterling growled as he lunged forward, fumbling with his seatbelt.

“Down, boy,” I told him. “Just feed me now?”

“Tuck that into your purse. It’s not staying in the car,” Cyrus warned me. I did as he asked. The information was far too important. Visual evidence was twice as useful as the documents. You couldn’t argue away what was plain for the world to see.

The guys followed me into the diner, and although our dressy attire garnered more than a few stares, we quickly tucked ourselves into the corner booth.

In less than fifteen minutes, we’d put in our order and gotten our food. I bit into my burger and moaned with happiness. It was the perfect combination of seasoning, cheese, and grease.

“This is so much better than the fancy food,” I said as I ignored their stares. Cyrus sighed, but Hayes laughed and took a bite of his own.

“I couldn’t agree more.”

“See?” Weston said, putting a fry in his mouth and chewing before finishing his statement. “You’re not the cheesy romance type.”

“You caught me,” I deadpanned before I bit into my burger. This wasn’t how I’d seen the night going, but I’d take diner burgers and solid evidence over a quiet evening at home any day.

ChapterTwenty-Five

Bailey

As far as these charity events went, I’d have to say this was my favorite so far. That didn’t mean that I was enjoying myself, but an auction meant I’d see some drama instead of dealing with constant mingling with handsy politicians.
