She laughed. “See, I told him that innocent omega thing was all a ruse.”

“Of course it was,” I said, rolling my eyes. “No self-respecting omega would preen for that vile man. What’s your excuse?”

“You cost me everything!” she screeched. I got into a defensive stance, ready to take her ass down. “My husband, my home, my fucking reputation!”

“How didIdo it? I’d say the senator incriminated himself,” I said, feigning ignorance just to piss her off.

“Oh, I’m not stupid, I know you snuck away at that dinner party. Who else was this close to him?” she bit out. “My entire life is ruined.”

“Good. It was all built on the backs of suffering omegas,” I growled, unable to hold back any longer.

She snorted. “You mean from omegasontheir backs.”

My mouth fell open as she laughed at her terrible joke. “So you knew about this ring the whole fucking time?”

“Who do you think did the dirty work?” she asked pointedly. “The senator kept up public appearances to get the laws passed, but I’m the mistress of this empire.”

It was like an out-of-body experience. My fist flew at her before either of us could see it coming. Fist connected with flesh in a sickening thud. She fell to the floor, her suit ruined by the wet dirt as I glared down at her, slamming my boot into her side.

There was a wave of worry that danced with my anger and fear. The guys knew something was up now, if they hadn't felt it before. I didn’t focus on it. My attention was on the bitch in front of me.

“You’re a fucking omega, yet you allowed this?” She grunted as I pulled her to her feet and slammed her into the wall, my forearm digging into her throat so she couldn’t do more than squeak. True fear was in her eyes, but her guards ripped me away from her before I could do anything else.

She angrily swiped at the blood on her face and spit on the ground, red joining the dark brown.

“I’d return the favor, but I can’t ruin the merchandise,” she said. The fact that she could smile with a bruised face and split lip told me she was a fucking psycho. “Prepare yourself, Bailey. Your life is now going to be a living hell. You’ll submit for the highest bidder and be forced to endure heat after heat for their pleasure.”

“I knew the ring was behind that drug. My heat was far too soon,” I told her, watching closely for her reaction.

“That was thanks to Veronica. You were too wrapped up in your own ego to notice her sneaking in,” she said smugly.

“Too bad you didn’t succeed in whatever plans you had,” I mused.

“No,” she said, her smile dropping. “You were supposed to end up here that night. We had potential buyers lined up.”

“You’re a monster,” I said quietly. It was hard to fathom how an omega could ever turn against her own so viciously.

“Right this way! Gentlemen, let’s give Bailey the grand tour,” she said, ignoring me. The two alphas latched onto my arms, forcing me to walk. The hallway was lined in doors, but she didn’t stop at a single one until the hallway turned.

She finally pushed open a heavy metal door to reveal a large room lined in omegas. They ranged in age from children to middle-aged women. Each one looked exhausted and sickly. Their heads all tilted to the floor in submission, and Crystal looked downright pleased by the compliance.

“These are the omegas you’ll be joining—sometimes in your working hours, sometimes in the downtime. You’ll know nothing else but the comfort of this basement until you’re used up, then we’ll sell you off with no questions asked,” Crystal promised.

“Maybe we should take the first round to break her in,” the alpha to my left suggested.

“Fuck you,” I bit out. “I’m not fucking anyone for you. You have no fucking clue who you’ve crossed.”

“Oh, is Baileyimportant?” she simpered before all three laughed. “You’re no one now, omega, just a number in my books. Brandon and Corrine liked the look of you, so I’ll check with them first.”

My stomach churned at the thought of another omega who didn’t bat an eye at the flesh trade. These women and girls deserved justice, and I had to pray that the guys would tear this world apart to find me before anyone had the chance to take their turn with me.

“Josephine!” Crystal barked. A meek woman, who must have been no more than twenty, hurried forward, eyes cast down. Her hair was matted, and her natural scent was lost beneath the smell of sweat and body odor. She deserved so much better. “I want you to tell Bailey how long you’ve been here.”

For the first time, the omega met my eyes. Hers were dead and shadowed. “Since I was fifteen.”

“Tell her about last night.”

The girl swallowed, and pain lit up her eyes instead of the numbness that had been there moments before.
