“How did you manage that?” she demanded, her pupils overtaking her green irises.

I shook my head and jutted my chin toward Bianca.

“I didn’t,” I informed her, striding toward the fallen pants and snatching them off the floor. “Bianca took care of our problem for us.”

Vivian pouted, folding her arms over her chest. “If it were that easy, I would have done it years ago,” she complained, eying Bianca with some envy.

“It wasn’t that easy,” I replied, sliding my buttocks into the cargo pants and zipping them up. “You would have done it on my account, and the curse would have remained. Because Bianca rightfully belonged to Jesse, she couldn’t technically do my bidding.”

Vivian appeared stunned by my revelation.

“Really?” she chimed.

“I can’t take the credit,” I said. “Bianca figured it out and made it very clear that her actions were her own.”

Pink colored Bianca’s cheeks from my praise of her cleverness, before she whipped her head around and yelled, “Stop!”

I turned to face Eugene. The sneaky old bastard had tried to weasel his way out of the room while we were talking, but I strode toward him, picking him up by the scruff of the neck.

“Put me down!” Eugene cried. “Guards! Guards, help!”

Vivian snickered and rolled her eyes.

“Are you serious?” she laughed. “I’ve seen rats jump a sinking ship slower than those ‘guards’ took off when they heard Atlas was here and ready to bring this place down. The place is empty.”

“Alanah?” Bianca demanded. “Is she still here?”

“I have no idea who that is, sweetie, but last I saw, the compound is deserted. No one wants to make an enemy with your man, I promise.”

“Gather the others,” I commanded her, still dangling Eugene over the wood floor. “We’re going to need a clean-up here, I imagine.”

Eugene went limp, his eyes dancing from his daughter to me.

“I was only trying to give my girls a better life!” he moaned. “You can’t fault me for that!”

I continued to stare at him, letting him dig himself deeper into the hole he had dug for himself.

“You’re not a father, Atlas, or you would understand. You want the best for your children—”

“Shut the fuck up, Eugene!” Bianca screamed, running forward to batter him with her fists.

I held him like a punching bag, allowing her to get out all her anger and torment until Eugene was crying for mercy. Only then did I allow him to crumble to the floor, his breathing haggard.

Bianca stood above him, hyperventilating, as I walked toward Jesse’s body and withdrew the pen from his neck. Another short spurt of blood escaped, but the tiger was gone. I resisted the urge to kick his lifeless form. He didn’t deserve dignity or respect in death. He hadn’t lived a worthy life.

“I’m sorry, Bianca! I didn’t mean to hurt your sister!” Eugene mumbled, burying his face in his hands.

“You’re only sorry because you got less money for her because she was injured,” Bianca hissed back.

I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, drawing her closer to me.

“What would you like to do with him?” I asked her softly, my lips pressed to her ear.

“Kill him,” she answered without hesitation. “I want him dead.”

Eugene moaned, shaking his head.

“I’m your father, Bianca. I’m your flesh and—”
